Need help with paint prep
Painting my car in the next couple months. Starting prep now due to knowing it's going to take forever.
First i want to remove the door trim (metal trim that i think is there to stop door dings) It goes on the fender, door, and possibly back wheel well but not sure. How does this come off? screws from inside, tape, anyone know?
Also do i take off window trim (rubber weather junk) while painting? My current color is green, and you can tell when they last painted it right over the color (red) you can see the red when the weather stripping is moved a little bit. Also what else do i need to remove? You can tell the mirrors were not painted on the backsides, plus im i know im removing ground fx/tail lights already.
Any idea's on paint product to spray the lock/door handle, plus does anyone know where i can get the "camaro" stickers that go on our doors?
Sorry for the random questions, but i do not want to paint this thing again any time soon knowing that i missed little things that tick me off. Thanks.

That trim, going down my car isn't metal. You can use a heat gun to pull that thing off, and then you'll have to get the glue off too.
As with any repaint & color change, it's a good idea to pull any weather stripping that has paint to it, or under it. Otherwise it can look real cheap and when your trying to sell it, people notice that kinda crap.

i have an 84 transam and i am not sure if we have the same door trim or not, but mine was attached to the door with rivetts, i simply took a screw driver to it from the outside and snapped it off, considering the fact that it's been sitting there for 18 years it wasn't all that hard to take off, anyways. after that, i ended up with some small wholes, the guy that helped me recommended i weld those wholes and not use any bondo since that would fall off eventually.
