82 - 92 Taillights

Got standard taillights on my 82 Firebird. I need to change rear indicators to amber (European car have to have amber indicators to be road legal). I know that the Formula cars had these mulitcoled tailLights. I know that there is probably a fair bit of work in changing the wiring around. Will formula lights fit my 82 Firebird V6?. Were the same taillights used on Firebirds from 82 to 92?.

Any help appriecated,

Gerry Holian

It's not that bad... At least, I have a set of 1984 standard firebird tail lenses that I have put in my 1988 firebird (with the amber directionals) at one point.. There is a little bit of wiring alteration, but the lights themselves bolt in with no issues... I would imagine going the other way (1986-92 lenses into 82-85) would not be any different...

You'll need either 85-92 Firebird (and Formula) taillights...

...or 91/92 Trans Am Taillights. They are very hard to get though, especially in Europe. The wiring is a little different so try to get the wiring harness with them.

Yep, the 91-92's are my favorite.

Thanks,
I was getting worried there for a bit, didn't want the price to go up to high. I can barely afford what I got them for.
I've been wanting to get these lights for 3 years.
I'll definately have pics up when I get them.

Sorry for taking over your thread Gerry.

It isn't mine though. It belongs (or belonged? He tried selling it.) to a member of this forum. His website is http://www.transamgta.com.
