Lookin good, when's the BIG day for new paint?

 

They are the fender vents off a 1980-81 car, and also notice the stock spoiler off the car......a result of heavy criticism from this board.....

and of course the shaved door handles.....

Then the shaved antenna......

Now time to get this baby painted...

Any ideas, thoughts, opinons welcome...

 

cant tell its true beauty until its painted, looks neat thou, its different and good

 

It's going back into the shop this Thursday for the paint.......will be staying the same teal color

It's also getting a SS Hood, Trenz Billet Grill, and a whole list of other goodies......

I'm glad to see you decided to just pick one spoiler, even though its not the one I would have picked.

The vents look alright, I think they would look better if they were slanting the opposite direction though.

What color are you painting it? Stock?

 

Yup, stock Teal color, that it is now....

anyway, i like the shaved look of the door, but i think that the vents would of look a tad better below the crease like on a TA. oh well.

Personally though, I probably would have flipped the vents around, such as in my crappy PhotoChop shown here, if possible

I give you credit for trying something different but I personally don't like them. I like everything else but the vents.

Why did you take that pic out of that beautiful car easy? Its not r i c e if it can run down 85% of the cars on the road, stock! For those who actually care about statistics, i am exaggerating my #s. lol

looking good i like the vents too, its nice to see something a little different. whereare you going to have it painted?

 

I like it alot, but if its getting repainted I would choose another color (unless teal is your favorite, its a personal preferance thing). Are you going to put the door molding back on? I've thought about stripping my molding off before I spray my car, but it might create an unwanted wavering effect. I think the crease under the molding is unformed (unlike the crease on the fender which is formed), so might take some body work to make it look perfect. I like the smooth look!!

My painter told me it would be better to do it without the body molding on, so it could get painted underneath.........

Then once it's done i can decide to put it back on or not....

Oh sorry! LOL!! I was talking about my RS. Got the whole thing gutted and doing body work on it now (fixing some rust). Not sure what color I'm gonna spray, but its gonna be a custom mix.

After looking at some pics of cars w/o the molding, I think I was worried about nothing. Looks good w/o molding. The smooth look is nicer!! Thanks for showing that to me.



The Z will be orange for a while .... its growing on me!

Very sweet! I can't wait to see it painted. SS hood, cool and the grill will be sweet too! I agree clear lens are a definate must! I vote to leave off the door moldings/bumpstrips.

See one thing I realized once mine was repainted... I told the painter to get the car straight enough under the door moldings, so I could leave them off if I decided to. I'm glad I did. The car looks so much better w/o them. Actually no one noticed it was shaved when the strips were still on. Once I left them off the shaving really stood out.

Plus, I think leaving them off will make the vents flow a bit better. Seems like it would look crowded with the molding on there.

Which door popper kit did you go with?

Did you have any trouble getting on the decklid?

I think i'm going to leave the molding off and take off the rest of it.......

I got the SS Hood put on today......AND I ordered clear side markers from procarparts.com, which should be here in a week....

Why did you steal my idea, just playin. Didnt you get involved in the post where i had people photoshoping them on about 6 months ago? because i had been planning on doing that, when i got the chance, i even put the scoop off of my 1980 Z on my car.

Yup, a 1980-1981 Camaro Z28.....

 

Sorry no pics, You basically cut out the whole from the supplied gaskets, and then just fit it in, you then also need to drill holes for the bolts, or as i did, just urethane it in, so it stays....

 

I think the same as you, I decided to take off the rest of the molding.....

It's getting painted as we speak.....:lala:
