Advice needed on Appearance Mods for 89 Firebird

For the most part, I have the performance stuff down, with the exception of a few more goodies

The big question I have now is, how can I get my firebird to look as good as my old Camaro did? I have been debating on ground effects, because if I put them on, it should look really nice, but then again, it is added weight and will produce higher drag when going down the 1/4 mile.

I thought about 85-90 ground effects because it would take minimal modifications to put them on and they would be cheaper, but then I thought about putting on a Ram Air II hood on as well, but they look a lot nicer with 91-92 ground effects (imho) but that would be more costly to switch to 91-92's and take more modifying.

Of course, I am going to be painting it soon. The big runners so far are yellow, platinum or color changing paint with ghost flames. Any thoughts and/or pictures GREATLY appreciated!

1 solid color and ROH ZS wheels. Beyond that I wouldn't touch it.
Just picture Tom Keliher's car in your color.

Well, maybe a RA1 hood, but I'm not finding fault with your hood.

Tom Keliher's car? Do you have a pic? The hood is a 2 1/2" cowl hood already.

Also ... what about the front and back 'black' rubber or plastic bumpers? Paint over them or make them the same color as I am getting it painted?

Jim, nice cars by the way

I agree w/ Jim...I would not change a thing with your Birds appearance. Looks perfect. (Can you say sleeper!)

Yup, I sure did ... and interestingly enough, the new owner made $200 off of a big mouthed modified LS1 T/A Ram Air in a race. He drug him from 0 - 115 with it!

Honestly, I would not touch one thing on that car. I really like the sleeper appeal too....I can see you making some money on the side with the Firebird, if you know what I mean.

I suppose you are right. It may be best just to leave it like it is, and get it repainted along with new wheels and call it a mint condition stock formula....then take people's money Any other thoughts from other people, let me know!

PS ... I looked at Tom's Car ... turns out I have the issue of GMHTP he was in. The previous owner of the Red IROC on the front put on my supercharger for me on my IROC that I just sold. Anyway, I never thought anything of Tom's car because I normally am into the more flashy type of car, but after really looking at it, I have come to realize that his car is very nice looking! ... Go figure ... he was featured in a magazine for cryin' out loud!

I would keep the black bumper inserts black. I have seen them painted and I really don't like it. Not to mention it will chip at the slightest hit. Leave them be. Your bird looks good, a definate sleeper!
