Can Billet high polish rims be clear coated?

http://www.centerlinewheels.com/imag...AR_451x421.jpg

This is the one that i'm looking to clear coat(if so can we use automotive clear like the one used in body shops or is there a special). Reason why i'm asking is becuase I spend about an hour a rims when cleaning the car(using mother's rim polish). The oxidation is a killer!

Why would you want to clear coat them? They are aluminum, its not like they are going to rust.

Oxidation - I figure if I can put a coat of clear on'm then I could save "cleaning" time because the clear coat would stop the oxidation. Why think it's a bad idea or no possible?
On the other hand, if the rim(s) get hot then cold from drive - i guess the clear would discolor. Hmmm, know I'm confused.

what about having the rims powdercoated clear . maybe that would solve your problem. you could polish them up and then have them coated.

i dont know of anyone in that area.Maybe go to a car show and ask someone if they have had powdercoating done. Or maybe in the back of a mag, but i think going to a car show and asking someone would be your best bet .

If you keep up with the maitnance on the wheels, you shouldn't have a problem with them oxidizing. A few of my friends have aluminum wheels and have had them for a long time now and all they do is clean them like once a week and none of their rims are oxidizing. I think you would be wasting your money.
