Ok i have ordered my por-15, And want to see what the engine bay, suspension parts look like. I did a search, and came up with "EDZZ" but he seems long gone....... no posts since last year
I plan to do the engine bay silver, and suspension semi/ black.
Also, any more testimonies???
I told the guy" jim" at por-15, that the folks on thirdgen.org, spoke highly of thier product.
Thanks... shawn

Edzz is still around, but he watches a bunch of boards nowadays. I was one of the people helping with the POR application on his Z28. I must say if you are thinking of doing your engine bay, make sure everything is out of the way and make sure you go over all studs and threaded holes with a tap and die set after. Also, cleanliness is a must with POR. We took a day with degreaser to get his engine bay mostly apart and cleaned, but it would have been even easier if we had removed more.

Still in process:
The paint is really glossy when its clean. Edzz also used the POR engine paint in the orange color.

I used a paint brush. I put about 2-3 coats on most of the engine bay. I got really tired hunched over trying to paint.

Guys, I thought Por-15 only worked on bare metal? Isn't that the whole idea, to stop rust?
From the Por-15 FAQ on their web page:
Mathius
From the Por-15 FAQ on their web page:
CAN I APPLY POR-15 OVER OTHER PAINTS? Yes, but you will lose the important benefits of POR-15. You must remember that ordinary paints are weakened by exposure to moisture. POR-15 can't stop rust if it isn't in direct contact with the base metal.

You need to treat the bare metal with Metal Ready for POR-15 to stick. It sticks great to rust.
I didn't want to deal with sanding the engine bay, so I just painted over my maroon paint with the POR-15.

Its true that the POR15 in the engine bay isnt doing much to prevent new rust from starting, but how often do you see rust in an engine bay? We painted the bay in POR15 to change the paint color to black and because it was pretty much scratch and dent resistant. The areas of Edzz' car that were rusty we dug into and painted over bare metal.
