Hiding pre 90 T/A turn signals
Hiding pre 90 T/A turn signals
I seen a picture of a silver 85 TA in an old GM Hi-tech Performance mag article the other day that had a regular 85-90 T/A bumper modified to hide the "lip" where the parking lights and the front of the headlights (the "Pontiac" part). It also had what looked like the wide LT1 'Vette foglights instead of the normal T/A foglights.
I am wondering what is the best way to accomplish this. I have come up with 2 solutions, help me pick the best one for longevity:
1. Create a strand fiberglass "mold" that fills the space, and bolts from underneath, then smooth it to the rest of the bumper level with flexible bumper body filler.
2. Cut a slit where the edges of the headlight/parking light cavity is, and fold the plastic to the right height, held to the right spot with metal brackets. Use a strong epoxy or flexible panel body filler to fill the gaps. Maybe use a heat gun to help form the plastic to its new position.
thanks

As a quick thought on this, is it possible to buy sheets of the material that our bumpers are made of? If it is, I was thinking it's almost a cut-and-glue proposition to remove that whole section... Even if I glue on metal braces from the back...
Could I substitute ABS plastic? Would that bond to the bumper material?
