TA wheels

I have a few quesitons.

1 What year rims are these?
2 Is there supposed to be a difference in look, front and rear rims?
3 How do I clean these up? Im thinking placing wheel on rear and spinning wheel while hitting it with fine to very very very super very fine paper

The GTA rims from 86 -87 were different than 88-92s. All GTAs sold now are the 88-92 style. I would show you the difference, but you have to look very closely close up. Basically the 88-92s have dimples at the ends of the spokes.

Yes the rears are suppossed to look different than the fronts. The deep dish in the front is deeper than the rear.

There was a 15" rim that looked like the one in that pic. And then there were aftermarket 16" ones that looked liked that one.

Its pretty hard to tell what rim you have there.

These 16s and all four are deep, and nope no dimples.
I did see an 88 with white wheels where the rear were not as deep. But i thought it was cause he had drums, i have 4 wheel disc

Since you say they are 16s, and are all the same, then its an aftermarket set.

They Look like Enkei 16X7 inch wheels produced in 1986.
I have a set on my car. If you decide to use them they will still be an upgrade from the 15X7 inch stockers since they are much lighter (less unsprung weight). The center section is cast aluminum welded on a forged outer rim. I repolished mine and painted them black. The tires that you will need for the wheels to look right are
Cooper cobra GTZ or Pep Boys futura tires in a size of P225/55/ZR16

Don't let the 225 size fool you as being too narrow. In fact the tread width is much wider than a 235/60R15 tire (15 inch rim tire). The reason is because the 225/55ZR16 is measured as a lower profile tire. Also, some known OEM size 245/50/16 tires have the same treadwidth as the 225's I have mentioned.

Also, don't let anyone talk you into putting a Comp TA 245 size tire on a 16X7 wheel because it will buldge.

Hope this helps

Oh btw,

You'll be able to rotate your tires by yourself unlike the GTA rims
where you'll have to take the tire off the rim due the 16 mm offset the GTA rims have at the rear.

So actually you have some advantages with the Enkei wheels
