Check out my new $25 Hood!

Just went to the pull-a-part and found an 87 Formula that had the hood still intact. The car had a lot of parts left on it but I only had a few bucks to spend. I also grabbed the rear sway bar too ($10). I installed the bar today and the car drives real tight and flat! I have to repaint the hood, but it is straight! Every time ive seen a domed hood in this particular yard, its usually bent out of shape due to some yahoo trying to get to the motor.

Well this one was sitting real nice and purdy on top of the car. Grabbed it and I was all smiles.
Ive been looking for one of these for 5 years.

Nuff talking, here are some pictures:

Here is my new sway bar!

Man those hood are hard to find. I was looking for one but ended up going with the newer T/A hood, they're cheap and in abundance.

Nice score Bill. The beauty of my local junkyard is that they charge rock bottom prices for things worth 5 times as much. Unfortunately, there are only 3 fbodies at one. Not a single one of them has anything I want or need.

Hey Bill... that wouldn't have happened to have come off the white one with the headlights screwed into the turn signals and fenders would it ? I stole.. I mean um.. accidentally put it in my pocket with my screwdriver, the lift arm off the headlight motor.
Also.. out at Glissons, there is a silver 86 T/A that is mostly intact except the drivers fender. Even the rear aero wing is in very good shape. A rear hatch is only $25 I think out there. Also a black formy (I think it is anyways) with an all black interior and the 'deluxe' doorpanels. I might be going back out there tomorrow to do some more 'shopping' . I'm not to sure how I would get the hatch back home in the Camaro though
Good find on that hood though.. that white bird seed to be pretty clean.

Yep thats the same one. I would have liked to have gotten the front and rear bumpers too but I am on a very STRICT budget. I really wasn't supposed to spend any money but hey, $40 for a hood and rear WS6 sway bar!!!

I haven't gotten out to Glissons in a long time. I would like to make a trip out there sometime. I'd like to find a rear hatch like the one you described and make the ol 84 look like a Formula.

Catch ya later,
bill

Are you referring to U-Pull-IT??

Do you know any yards around the Ft. Lauderdale area that have 4th Gens, or good condition 3rd Gens??

i've been in U-Pull-IT a few times but never saw anything worth looking at.. i was talking more about M&L , its behind U-Pull-IT.. i have only seen 1 4th gen come into the yard and the guy driving the fork lift put it up on top of a 3 car rack and wouldn't bring it down for me...

Nice fine...yards here in southern california are way too much. Although I must admit from what I hear more abundant in third gens.

This is my favorite hood too! I am contemplating getting a Trans Am/Formula/GTA style rear wing too, AKA wraparound wing.

I think that will make it look alot like a formula. I am trying to work out a plan where I can get a complete IROC donor car with a 305 TPI in it for parts. This way I can transplant a tpi.
