Its easier if you dont have defrost lines.
I used a razor blade, super-degooper(sold at walmart), and windex.
It is time consuming, at least it was for me since I went around the defrost elements.

good luck man i tryed removeing the nasty bubbleing purple tint on my hatch today i gave up on it. after i got the main stuff off there is a next layer of this other stuff on it. spent 30min and got next to nothing off. screw it.... i'd rather pay the extra $$
but good luck, u will need it

I know the problem is solved but I have found a heat gun and windex to be the best way to get it off in big sheets.

Just for the record to get it off my 'bird I used a single edged razor blade in one of those little holder deals and mineral spirits wasn't strong enough to take off the glue so I had to use some methel ethel ketone. Watch out with the ketone though cause that stuff is strong(it'll kill off your brain cells to, one confersation with me will prove it) it'll eat paint off your car like it was nothing.

I just grabbed a corner & pulled. I used a razor blade. And for any film/glue left over I just used a rag with a splash of gasoline on it. Worked good heh.
