is doing this ok?
hey you prolly remember me from my other post about getting a paint job done by a cheapo company. Everyone pretty much said i was completely crazy. so i did a little rethinking and i am wondering if i do all the prep work all by myself, is it ok to goto a place like maaco to get the paint done? I mean by prep work i'm saying weatherstripping, stickers, lights, etc, stripping paint to primer, and wet sanding the primer with 220grit paper.
oh yeah one more question. in the pic below you can see very large nicks, and a lot of small ones too. they are approx. 1/2mm deep, which is very deep for paint if you didn't notice. what do i do to fix that? if you could tell me howto strip the paint from the fender(because paint seems thicker), i would very much appeciate it.

i dont think theres anything wrong with doin the prep i did all the prep work myself and then brought my car to maaco to get painted. its actually still there, i gotta pick it up monday.
the paint there is thicker bc on the gfx they put an additive in the paint to make it more elastic like and thicker so that if u just bump somethin it wont crack. same with bumpers. i would just sand it down and fill it if it has to be filled.. dont strip the paint bc i tried that when i used to have my ta and it started melting the fiberglass or whatever the bumper is made out of

neither did i d00d but the part about it taking the paint ioff makes it easier to strip off the paint because it does it. I wont have tio sand it down to the primer, just blast it off.
