Functional hood louvers - May be a way..
Functional hood louvers - May be a way..
I was thinking about drilling/cutting (2) 4" holes in the hood where each louver goes. Then sealing the edges of bare metal with silicon and weather strip. Then I was going to cut small slots between each fin on the louvers with maybe a sawzall. Then just bolt the louvers back in place. Only thing I would have to do now is see if I could install maybe a screen or some type of mesh underneath the hood to block debris from coming in those holes. It would have to be made easy to remove and install for cleaning.
So what do ya'll think? Am I nuts?? Any input is appreciated.

I've been thinking about something similar, using a custom bent sheet metal filter housing and a large rectangular K&N panel type filter. The problem I've been seeing is that there isn't much room between the radiator support and the hood when closed for such a setup. What did you have planned for that???

Hey, that's pretty cool!! Looks like it would be great for TPI. I have TBI with K&N Open air though. So I figure if I could get air in or around the open air area, this would hopefully help a little. Like Bnoon said though, trying to get some sort of screen or mesh under there may be the difficult part.
