Best cleaner wax?

My car was repainted about a year ago now... I've only used wax on it since, never a cleaner type of wax or compound or anything... what do you guys use, or what is the best cleaning wax I can get? I think it's time to clean this baby off and make it bling.

If you want bling, chrome plate your car. If you want nice looking paint, don't worry about a cleaner wax. That's a fancy name for an abrasive wax. With proper maintance you shouldn't need it. Plus, the vast majority of polishes out there have a mild abrasive in them anyway.

If you want to remove crap from your paint, try using a clay bar. If you've got swirl marks, or some minor scratches that you want to take care of, try a hand glaze or swirl remover. Once you're happy with your finish, keep using your non-abrasive polish.

So just a good glaze or swirl remover is fine? I've claybared it once... is it really only needed like once a year, or just whenever I feel like, one of the things where you can't really do it too often?

If you want a good hardshell carnuaba that won;t swirl, get Mothers. It is not a cleaner, but rather a straight carnuaba wax. Thats where you get alot of the abrasion is from the cleaning agent. It;s about the best you can get. My dad has showed cars for years and will swear by this stuff. I I've been using for years as well and love it. Like someone else mentioned, I would definately do the clay bar thing at least once maybe twice a year if you are like me and very very **** about the appearance of your car.

Heres another hint, never reuse an applicator. Thats where alot of abrasion will come from is dirt picked up over time. Go to Wal-Mart, buy a bunch of white wash cloths and use one per application. The wash cloth makes it easier to get into the little places and it won't give you hand cramps like the applicator pad will.

Black85T - Exactly right. Use the hardshell carnauba from Mothers and the Meguires detailing spray wax. That stuff works wonders, I use the Mequires spray about 3 times a week on my Harley and that thing feels like glass.

Oh man let me tell you, my car is black, so i KNOW if its the wrong stuff (man its sure a b!tch to keep clean) but i use Meguiar's Cleaning wax to wax it, and the Meguiar's detailer keeps the wax shiny between waxings and also removes waterspots and stuff to make ur car looking nice! Take it from me, if it cleans and makes the Black car shine, any car can !

Oh yeah, my wife used to drive a big black Z-71 and the Mothers kept that think perfect. Took out all the scrathes from of raoding and everything. The only bad part was that truck was so feeakin big it took me 2 days, literally to wax it.

I've always used the Mother's 3-phase.
Phase 1: Cleaner
Phase 2: Swirl & scratch remover (i think?)
Phase 3: Carnuba wax

I only use phases 1 and 2 once a year, and wax about once a month or so... stuff works miracles!!!
