body paint prep question

ok i've asked this many times before but didn't get the kida answer i was looking for so i'm gonna ask once again. Alright my car is in need of a paint job, i have no dents very little rust(but still needs to be fixed), and some chipped paint ont he front GFX. Ok the paint is so thick that i'm thinking its gonna be too hard to sand it all off. Look in the picture and you see what i'm talking about. how do i fix this? Should i just sand the paint as i would primer but make it way thinner, then just fill all that with bondo or what?

Ok next question, is stripping paint off the car with a pressure washer ok? On most of the car it will just come right off(excluding GFX).

Next question, does it matter what brand of primer you use? i mean if i go get any sandable primer it would be ok right?

thanks guys.

Good luck with the pressure washer.

I cleaned my car with a 1800psi honda pressure washer, and just barely got my decals off.

You might damage the paint, but you arent gonna take it off.

If its flakes off that easy, then you MUST strip it off, otherwise the new paint will flake off too. Get a dual action (DA) Orbital sander and some 80 or 100 Grit pads for it and have at it.
As far as primer, don't use rattle can primer ($2 aerosol cans). The best primer is the kind shot through a gun. You'll want some high build primer to fill in little nicks and sanding scratches.

Simple fact: A paint job is only as good as the prep work.
Do crappy prep work and you'll have a crappy paint job. The primer is NOT expensive, but you do need a gun to spray it. Harbor Freight tools sells HVLP guns that will do an excellent job, but you will also need a compressor.

so the automotive primer at walmart for $6.50 a can is not worth it? I'm thinking 6.50 a can might be worth it. but i dont know. yeah i have a subscription to their little magazine and i can get the gun and compressor for about $170 total. i just dont think that i would be a good painter ya know. I'm only 16 and i dont have a garage to paint it in. My room is the old garage.

well now that i think of it if i buy the stuff needed i could paint it but do you think that someone with no experience could do a decnet job. I mean all i am worying sbout are bubbles and stuff. Or is that just a problem with rattle cans? And how much is automotive paint(enough for an entire car)? including good paint. Do you need certain types of masking?

honestly, you might find a spray gun easier to use(and control) then a spray can....
