Spot priming rust areas till paint time...need ideas

Hi everyone,

I need ideas for sanding down and priming some rusty areas till I have the time (and money) to send it to the paint shop. I don't have any bad spots, pitting, or rust throughs. I mostly have some peeling paint places, exposing the primer beneath. Lately some of my peeled spots have weathered though the original primer, and I want to take care of these oxidizing spots ASAP.

Will wet sanding the areas clean and using just an aerosol can of gray auto primer work okay? Or is there another method I should use, maybe a book or website for details? Do you recommend any specific product for best results and protection? Any other ideas, suggestions, or opinions?

thanks and take care,

Jason G

any bare metal? if so, before your primer and paint use oxyde zinc primer on the bare metal... then prime and spray color on it

If its only a couple weeks or something, use primer (easier to sand off). If its any longer hit it with some rustoleum paint (little more weatherproof).
