Has anyone modified their rear bumper so that it doesnt stick out, but rather flush with the tail-lights? Kind of like an 80's vette?
Im thinking about doing this but Im just curious if their are any kits or if anyone has had any experiance with it.

I did 2 quick photoshops of someones car, and it looks pretty good.

I think it would look good on a Firebird but not a Camaro only due to the taillight design.

 

I've wanted to do that to my T/A for awhile now. Sort of like a rollpan on a truck.

I wouldn't want to get rearended with that setup. You might even get hassled by the cops. My friend's Nissan p/u had no rear bumper from the factory (only a roll pan). A cop wrote him a ticket for it and the judge upheld the ticket and made him pay the fine, even though he brought Nissan literature showing it came equipped that way from the factory.

looks ok, but still cant mess with the stock thirdgen appearance.

i did a photochop a while ago on a california iroc. without a spoiler and a flush bumper, it looks spectacular. very vette-like. i did also take out the sides of the tailights because they did seem a bit outta place, but not enough to look bad. if i had more time, i was gonna try this out myself this summer. alas, between work and repairing the necessary stuff, ran outta time for most of the custom stuff. i was thinking that making a mold of the back part of the bumper (to match the lines and such) and the front of it (to match the mounting stuff) and filling in the rest. you would have to remove the plastic underneath (crumple protection?) to get it flush. i was thinking of maybe making some custom bar to go underneath to give a little more protection due to the removal of the plastic honeycomb type stuff, but i dont think it would be necessary.

here, found it on the other computer. lemme know what ya think. i personally would love to do it. might even look better with a notchback????

 

I don't like it. It doesn't look natural. Maybe a smaller bumper would look ok though.

that looks soooo cool. really has me thinking, but there is no way i would have the means to do that myself, so i could see that costing some major bucks.

the tail lights and bumper look ok. but that ricecop is the UGLIEST thing i have ever seen!

 

That looks chopped. Look at the last pic closely. I think they are all photochoped. Still ugly none the less.

 

Ummm no? makes the window look like its at a funny window and it just doesnt look right at all. I love the look of my iroc the only thing i want to do is get custom fiberglass panels where the ground FX are part of the panel so you dont have that bolted on look just one smooth panel

EDIT: i get it you just pasted a vette rear in thought you just got rid of the bumper not paying attention sorry.....yeah the vet rear doesnt look right but no bumper might im too tired to think about it

 

i didnt paste anything in. the pic i posted is of one i found a while ago of a california iroc (hence no spoiler). from there, i just photoshopped off the bumper and filled in the side parts of the taillight. i think it looks a touch more like the vettes, but i didnt do cut and paste from a vette. and i take back my comment about adding a notchback. dont think it would compliment well.
