I still like his wing, even if half of the posters don't. Keep up the good work, and good luck on dropping it to the ground

Basically what you do is seperate the frame and the body, then weld them back together, but with the frame raised between 1 and 3 inches. This will cause the body to sit lower over the frame and the overall effect is the car/truck looks even more lowered. This would cause the GFX to be lower than the frame of the car so at full drop down the GFX would hit the ground before the floorpan. But when you do this you can run into ALOT of problems with clearance (both inside, and with the wheels and suspension). If done wrong it would totally ruin the car and I would not consider it road worthy. If done right, the car will never be safe for race use (all the geometry is screwed and the chassis is weak). This is pretty much a mod done to show only cars and trucks that are not daily driven. Here is a pic of a bodydropped truck. Notice how the bed is raised and the wheel wells are tubbed. This allows the bodypanels to touch the ground and gives the wheels maximum clearance to tuck. If there was a picture of the inside of the truck you would find that the floorpan is actually raised a few inches meaning you sit higher (if you were tall you might not fit!). This would also require you completely remove the front wheelwells. The engine bay ends up looking like this. But seeing our front suspension design, you would probably need to fabricate like a madman to get the car drivable. Very very cool mod, and will allow you to SLAM the car, but not for everybody, only the extreme type. I honestly think you'd be better off with a tube frame chassis designed for that type of drop and a 3rd gen Camaro body draped over the frame.

well if i wanted to lay the GFX i could just cut the rear portion of the floorpan where the seat humps are... and weld some flat sheetmetal and reenforcing bars in..........
but thats alot of work and like you said, kinda pointless..... now if you kept the car stiff enough, and then cut and flattened it, it might still be street worthy.....
but you'll never lay frame with these cars....................there isnt one.

Here is the lowest point on my car- about 2 1/4" from ground to exhaust. Bottom of front spoiler is about 4 3/4".

I measured today and it's 6 1/4" off the ground now. Apparently bad struts have that big off a difference in ride height. Also i now have 215/60/15 on the front instead of 205/60/15 like what used to be on it.

Fbodys cant lay frame?
I had to jump on this one. I saw you guys measuring from your airdam and what not. I can put the front BUMPBER. Yes, the actual nose of the car flat on the ground. I also welding some steel across the front cross member for some added sparks to throw at night (Ill hafta dig up some pics). The back end is the hardest to get to lay flat. My tires hit the fender wells and wont allow it to go any lower. To to that you need to either have a 14x6 rim and possibly shave the inner fender wells and shorten the axel...oh, and cnoth the subframe...to much work for all that...but here ya go

LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DONT CHECK THIS BOARD FOR A FEW WEEKS! LOL
Well, there are some very sweet and slammed thirdgens in this thread. Time to add mine...im probably right down with some of the lowest of the lows....
EDIT:
Cant get ANY of my pics to post, so check out my website. All the pics are too big to upload. Pay attenyion to the pics of the car next to the can of Wildcat, and the car back into my shop. Front tires site 1/8th of an inch away from the upper wheelwells. Front lip can lay as low as 1/4" away from the tarmac.

IF ANYONE CAN UPLOAD MY PICS OFF MY SITE FOR ME...PLEASE DO!

i can tell ya from experiance with motocycles.... Dragging Ti makes ALOT of sparks.... a heck of alot more then steel.....
a couple of my bike friends have sparkies... they're the same plastic pucks that you normally put on your leathers for when you drag a knee, except sparkies have bits of Ti embedded in them...
they make a shower of sparks you can see in the daytime.....

I spent i think now about $1500 on the setup. Installed myself, fabricated my own bracketry, and rigged up my own air pump.
PS, i already have installed spark bars on the back of the car, makes some OK sparks, not as near as much as titanium would! Im just using 1/4" steel bar for them.

Geez thanks guys!
SOme of those pics, there was some air left in the bags so the car wasnt sitiing at its lowest. I think one of the only pics of hte car sitting at its lowest is on my site, the pics of the car sitting next to a can of beer. The is at its lowest...so if you measure out half a can of beer in height...thats how low as i can go!
I dont have any pics of the sparks yet...but ill see if my girlfriend can take some pics with my digi railing it past her place tonight.

I LOVE THAT BEER!
I made the emblems myself, just took a piece of cutable mirror, (really thin and flexible mirror) bought at canadian tire. Cut it to fit the divets in the body kit. Then got a sticker shop to make a reverse cutout that says iroc. Struck it to the mirror, then glued them in.

hmm seems easy enough. Why didnt I think of that? how much did it cost for the material and to have them make you the sticker cutouts?
