do you mean $30,000 in school loans, or overall debt? i had about 15 in school loans, paid them down to like 10, now i'm going back for my masters so my payments are deferred. on the other hand, i do still owe like 12 grand on my pathfinder and over 20 on my credit cards hahaha.

My school is free. Wait, i forgot, i'm on a VA tuition scholarship (thanks dad for getting the snot knocked outta ya in survival camp! :-/ ) and i've had my apartment for a while, so i dont count that as part of school.

When I lived in the dorms, i was paying about 7 grand a year to be here at Purdue, and thats in-state. Tuition woulda been another 3 or 4 grand, but I'm lucky and have it paid for.

Agreed, while starting a free hood raffle quite soon after a thread on another board started about a shotty quality hood and poor customer service is a good ploy to have everyone take favour with you, i would hope the members on this board can see past that. From what ive heard from his side of the story your company has done an awful job handling the issue and since you are not willing to respond to his comments i can only assume he is telling the 100% truth.

Funny thing being i bet you will go out of your way to make sure the free hood is perfect just again to try to save your reputation, plus if youre having pictures sent to you then it would be kind of pointless if the hood looks like garbage eh? This whole situation i find horribly dissapointing especially from a sponsor.

I would like it if everyone discussed their opinions on the matter after taking a look at the pictures on the previously mentioned thread. The fit of the hood is absolutly terrible IMO...whats your opinion?

I look at it like this, and no disrespect to either party but this is how I feel on the subject.

I've read thread's here for around a year and a half, a member for a few months; I read every single thread in Appearance and Detailing and Body and Int.

I like everyone have seen Rex give discount's every so often to us. Which I think is great b/c I've seen a few in person and I know they have got to sell like hot cakes.

This being said Rex cannot handle his company by himself, And I doubt anyone could. I bet he doesn't even know this is going on. When you do what Rex does you don't have much time for anything else than work and sleep (ever now and again lol).

And I will say I personally think Rex as a great person. I've never seen him let anything go unoticed it just takes time to get to everyone.

Not to long ago on here. A thread was posted about a "company" that sold Rex's hoods. Well come to find out it was a total scam, And the one who sent his hard earned money in for the long awaited hood got nothing.

This is where Rex stepped in and showed that he cared and done something he DID NOT have to do. He hurt himself and gave the boy the hood of his choice.

If that does not show rex's morals and caracter I do not know what does.

But I will say that you cannot just slap a hood on a car in most cases exp. a aftermarket hood and expect it to just fit 100% correct. Steps have to be taken just like with everything else in body work.

I'd bet money that rex is not aware of this nor is he the one "taking care of it". But whoever indeed "took care of it" might not fit to great on the pay roll.

Also my borther works for freight so I could tell you some horror stories. That hood could have got damaged in transit ect. ect.

Now rex makes quality i've seen it in person many times. My buddy has a Turbo Iroc Hood I lust and drool over on a regular basis that he indeed got from rex.

I'm not saying that the guy that could'nt fit his hood is in the wrong, I'm saying I don't think rex would do anything to hurt his reputation in the first place. That is why he makes quality.

And that is quality with a damn good price tag. Well worth the money.

When I get the money I will buy from rex knowing one way or another I'm going to get what I payed for.

And bet you will too.

I entered the contest like most here in hopes to win a hood for my IROC-Z since mine was bent after a wreck. My fender's, front bumper cover, header panel, hood and grille ect..ect.. were all shot. I've spent already over a 2,000 dollar's for time on a frame machine and Part's. It's stupid of me in the sense of I will never get as much out of the car as I have in it but I do not plan on here selling it anyway. I'm going in for paint very soon. Now if I win this hood great..but if I don't I will do the body work on the Stock Iroc Hood I already have and get the car painted. And I will buy a hood from rex like i said when I get the money, Because I think he is a stand up guy; Treat's other's like he would want to be treated if in their shoes.

Fair is Fair, and I have not seen him let anyone down in the long run yet.

Just my $0.02 on this.

I am aware that there is some fitting to be done with fiberglass but if you actually check out the thread the hood is beyond anything that could ever be used. As far as him not knowing i severely doubt that because he has been checking this thread constantly and the person with the problem who started the other post made a comment on the first page and again no response. Regardless if rex himself is a good guy or not from the stories i have heard i would never even consider buying from ASCD. Awful customer service, and shotty practices. The person who got the defective hood had to pay a 15% restocking fee. This is the case when someone is just returning something but this was a defective product he should have gotten 100% of his money back. This also means that this hood has been restocked so thirdgen.org members one of you could very well end up getting sent this defective hood if you decide to purchase ram air hood for a firebird because it will be sent to someone. Now how comfortable do you feel buying from ASCD? This is one of the main reasons i would never even consider it.

hood problem reply

Hello All, I chose to do business with my customes on a personal one on one practice. First of all I have 2 third gen cars at my shop at all times. One is a 1992 Camaro with 21,000 miles on it. It was purchased new by one of my uncles, i purchased it from him for the main reason of test fitting and building products for it. I have known that car since 1992. The other car I have is a third gen firebird, not sure of the year model. now it is a real pos, but the body is as straight as a arrow. I traded a 93 Model Grand Prix to one of my long time employees for it even trade, just to build and test fit products. I have know this car for about 4 or 5 years. We have use it and other firebirds in the past to do a double check on firebird/ ta third gen. models. Like I said it is a pos, but body is straight. When we have a problem with a product, we ask for them, say a hood in this case to be returned. If on my cars that i feel are good examples of the normal production cars, there shows to be the same problem, I then, have a problem that i can work out with a customer. I am not trying to say anything bad about anyone's car, but I have been building fiberglass body parts since 1979 Full Time, started out with doing corvettes only. in 93 I went into all makes and models of cars and into streetrods and chassis. It is my beleif and understanding that there are not too cars the same . They are close but adjustments have to be made. Sometime sure it is my company's fault. And you can bet, I do my best to please all that I can. If I lost money and have a pleaed customer so be it. If I can not please a custome after I have tried my best that is all I can do. Looks like I am out of room here. in post area see ya Rex

Guys this thread is for the hood raffle, not about someone else's dispute with ASCD.

There is another thread for that.

I am gonna assume if he wants to deal with that he is gonna want to do it on a more personal level and not in a forum on the internet. Im not trying to defend him but I dont think trying to corner him in a forum about a diffrent matter of his business is the right thing to do. I understand how P***** off you are cause I would be mad too, but this is about a raffle. The other forum you started should suffice in telling us and him how you feel. just my .02 pesos so dont hate us cause some of us disagree with the subject!

if you paint it....

how could rex match the color of your car exactly without being there in person?

If you have an original paint job, you could give him your vin # and match the paint that way.
