Best time for paint job?
My GTA is due for a paint job but I was considering wainting until spring so the paint will cure better. I know good paint shops have climate controlled booths but should I wait anyways or just get it done now.

Yes, unfortunately the car will be on the driveway. I ordered a cover from Car Motorsports for it but I don't think it will be a good idea to put one on after a paint job.

I say get the paintjob when you can afford it....and I've got one of those GTA car covers too. They're some nice kit.

That's just what I thought. This gives me time to look around for a good shop and do some engine work too.
BTW, I live in the Florida Panhandle and even up here it still gets cold. Well, not as cold as the northern states but it is just so darn humid the cold feels like it goes right through you.
Thanks everyone,
Ozzy

Thin blooded? Nah, considering that I am from Puerto Rico I can handle the cold very well. I've been to colder places like South Korea in the winter. Talk about 30 below while pulling guard duty in the middle of nowhere on a ricepaddy. Icycles on the mustache, numb fingers, cold sleeping bag, yeah I think my blood is not so thin after all.
As for the paint job, I think spring might be a safer bet.

I'm painting mine thanksgiving morning..lol According to the weather channel it's supposed to be in the 50's. I'm using a medium reducer in the basecoat and adding a small amount to the clearcoat to let it flow out a little bit before it flashes. The temp isn't that big of a concern if you have the proper reducers for the conditions. It will just take a bit longer between coats for the base to flash.

How does it affect the curing time after the last coat and the life of the paint? Also are you doing this in a controlled space? I know most paints cure best at certain temperatures and levels of humidity.

I have some control over the temp..but not precise control. I'm shooting for about 65F in the garage.
I'll probably wait around 10 minutes between coats on the base. Once the last coat of basecoat has flashed off I will start with the clear. It has to be applied within 24hrs of the last coat of base being applied. I've never had temp have a negative effect on quality...yet...lol
