i bought my car second hand and the orginal owner left it outside. the rear glass and side windows have a build up on them that i guess is just water stains. ive tried every type of window cleaner i could think of but it didnt work. does anyone have any suggestions?

 

Thats a mildue of sorts... Try that bathroom shower tile cleaner.

 

didnt work, unless i did it wrong. i tried scrubbing, letting it soak and then scrubbing, no difference.

 

Wow. Thats wierd. Do you have any pictures of this stuff on the glass that would turn out that we could get a better idea?

but seriously u could try graffiti remover? or that stuff dealerships use to take off the numbers. Industrial window cleaner

 

Try some steel wool and a window cleaner like invisible glass. It worked perfectly on the buildups on my windows. And just use the fine steel wool and it wont scratch.

 

Try Sea Foam Bug&Tar remover...I cleaned an entire car, glass and all, that had been under a weeping tree for over a year with it in less than 10mins. The paint and glass had the texture of sandpaper...now factory clean. It could work on your delima too.

 

im not sure what gets that stuff off either i tried a razor blade and it still doesnt come off

 

i tried a brillo pad with bleach, soft scrub, tilex, windex, TSP-PF (industrial carbon build up remover), phosphate build up remover. i dont know what to try, where could i find this "industrial window cleaner?"

 

Vinegar or CLR. I'd guess they are calcium or hard water spots. 0000 steel wool works well to clean glass without scratching. You've tried lots of things already. Perhaps the glass is etched?

 

Use the Zaino Glass Polish and lots of elbow grease. I tried everything on my rear hatch and other glass to remove water spots and stains and didn't work. After an hour of using the Zaino stuff, the rear hatch looks like new. Gonna do my windshield next. The polish even removed the light scratches that were left on my side windows from the track losing its felt lining.

 

Acetone works wonders on glass it takes virtually everything off just don't get it on your skin (wear gloves) and rub it on if that doesn't take it off you may have to have your glass stone polished

 

Has anyone tried Meguiar's Hard Water Spot Remover? This stuff is for marine and RV use, it might be the thing to use.

that might be helpful, i havent had time to try anything else yet but all the people posting for the tail light gloss said they used stuff from eastwood also.
