always wondered 1 piece vs 2 piece vs 3 piece wheels

Why the heck are three piece wheels so much more expensive then two piece wheels and two piece wheels so much more expensive then one piece wheels. What makes the multi-piece rims so much better?

the reason that the 3 piece is more expensive is because it takes longer for the rim to be made

usually (and take this as usually) the 3 piece rim is strictly for race ready cars. because they are the lightest rim avail,

Yeah like he said, the build process affects weight and strength. 3 piece wheels being the lightest and strongest.

Do the 3 piece wheels also have seals in them that can go bad?

also being multipieced allows for a part of a wheel that has been damaged to be replaced w/o replacing the entire wheel...a plus if you ask me.

as far as i know i dont think that they go bad zepher, all i can really see happening is the same thing that would happen to a regular wheel, just the oxidization of the wheel or peeling.. not sure about the seals being broken..

i'm thankful for having a 2 piece after i bent a barrel....no fun indeed. i guess the 4 1/4" lip is a bit much huh?

:lala:

definate advantages though with weight and strenght being the two highest up there. 3 piece has an added advantage using lighter materials in other areas as well as the ability to change the face of the rim down the road if you ever wanted too.
