86SC show car underside - progress pics
Heres a photo of the underbelly of our Camaro. This takes soooo long to do. Every tool/spanner/socket has to be cleaned and covered in masking tape before it is used to protect the fasteners. After 3 years of planning, the air suspension is finally ready to go in. All holes have been marked for drilling and tapping. Here goes............................
More pics soon.

Probably not! J/K!
I'm going to have to. After all that work, somebody has to see it!
Although I don't want to imagine trying to clean all that chrome if I am caught in a rain shower. Trouble is, where do I place the jack on the underside?!!!
The inevitability of all this is the thought of the future of this car. No doubt the paint will get chipped (certainty), and no doubt it will get touched in. Then, as time goes by and enthusiasm diminishes, parts will get left and will need repainting-possibly with slightly the wrong shade of paint and some overspray on nearby components, and then everything will get sprayed with wax! At this point (or just before) it will get sold on and who knows what will happen to it next.
You have asked a very good question there. I have tried to ignore that for some time now. Don't drive it (or very little or trailered) and it stays in superb shape for longer, or, drive it, enjoy it, spend hours cleaning and maintaining it and watch it decay faster!! Oh dear.
This was a project I always wanted to do. Chrome and detail to the absolute max-but with no thought for what comes next.
I will never get anywhere near the money back that I spent on it, so it is purely a self fulfilling exercise. So I think the time is near when it will have to be sold. Possibly 1 more season in the limelight and the exposure, and away we go. And to finance another more realistic driveable vehicle (American of course). A convertible will be next (not a 3rd gen though).
My first yank was a very powerful machine (nitrous etc), this one is purely a show car, what comes next? Our black RS fills a nice gap. It is a pretty car with a bit of power, courtesy of the 350, and I can drive it in wet weather without worrying too much.
The future eh? Who knows............................
