Is this possible???

Anyone know if it's possible to make a Targa Top from a hardtop camaro??

Just wondering if anyone knows information about this, or possibly anything about a custom shop that performs this type of work, or better yet where to start looking???

I have seen it done from a T-Top Camaro, but nothing from a hardtop camaro.....

Thanks

C&C makes T-tops from Hardtop cars, so I'd imagine it would be very possible, tough MUCH easier with a T-top. There is one in my hometown made form a T-top, I tink it looks like crap though, it is really not a professional job. If you see one that looks good, let me know, but personally, I like the T-tops.

Its very posible, I had a body shop do it to my 4th gen.... wrecked the sucker 2 weeks later

If you do it, youll have to re- enfoce your A-Pillars.

Go look at a Vette with a targa top, youll get the idea. You can incorporate convertible latches into it.

4th gen cars are much easier to do this with. The framing of the roof in 4th gens is identical whether or not it was originally fitted with t-tops, unlike 3rd gens that have totally different roof structures. Basically in the 4th gen they put a large piece of sheetmetal over a t-top structure to make a hard top car. Converting a hard top 3rd gen to a targa top would be just as labor intensive and expensive as making it into a t-top car. There are tons of posts on here about how expensive that is to have done.

Actually it should be like making a s-10 into a hard top convertable (ive done the s-10 before), The only difference is you have to re-inforce the body, with like a roll cage or atleast sub-frame connectors. It all comes down to how much time and money you are willing to put into it, you don't need the t-top hardware, but it makes it easier.

my car has t-tops, and i plan on turning it into a targatop one day...

i don't think it would be too hard... just have to weld the two t-tops together somehow... and re-inforce the body.
