Well, look at it this way....

1. It's a free site...their rules
2. It's a technical site, says so in the user agreement
3. There are other 3rd gen sites with off topic sections
4. Bashing mods is just stupid, and will lead to bad things..

Sorry, but, rules is rules i'd say..

The problem isn't the few threads that are unrelated to thirdgens. The problem is that if they weren't locked, that's ALL you'd ever see, and this site would be one huge off topic mess. That might actually be fun, but there are TONS of sites like that, and TGO is really the only "all tech" thirdgen site, so it needs to be preserved.

you know i used to think the same as you, until i bought a 4th gen and moved over to those boards. now after being there several months i would do anything to have a message board like this for 4th gens. you really dont realize how good you have it to have all of the trustworthy information at your fingertips... spend a couple of months on cz28.com and see if you still feel the same way about tgo. you wont

umm i dont know about you but i dont come here to socialize and joke around with people about a funny looking chevy that you know of, i have friends. I come on here to talk about third gens and third gen modifications as that is an interest of mine.

As another point i also use a board for people in my area that is a General Motors board where there you can talk about anything general motors related. That would be a great place for something like that picture

I agree that there is a need for a misc. board for some thirdgen stuff that doesnt fit in categories. But I do like keeping this board third gen specific, when I look at Z28.com I just get lost theres tooo much stuff.

Why are you bashing mods anyways? Get a life that was a stupid post!

Yeah, sometimes I'm a little disappointed that there's no off-topic region on TGO, I think it'd be a fun community to interact with. But it's just not the nature of the board :sigh:

That is an awesome looking cake!!:hail:

I'm actually surprised this isnt locked yet. I bet as soon as Metallicamaro sees this it gets the lock. In all honesty I can see both sides here, I mean it'd nice to have some off topic convo, but I guess there was trouble in the past with that, so I don't blame the admins for not wanting to go through that stuff. After all there is a bunch of good off topic boards out there anyways. I think 19WS6T/A91 makes a good point though, its nice to search for info with out sifting through all the off topic crap!

Keeping non-tech related topics off of TGO was one of the reasons I wanted to become a Mod. Ever since I started visiting this site not only has my knowledge of ThirdGens increased dramatically, but my general vehicle knowledge for that matter. I guarantee if you ask 90% of the posting members here on TGO they car honestly say they have gotten something very useful from the boards.

Moderators do not get paid for thier services here on TGO. All we get out of this is knowing that we have one of the BEST tech sights on the World Wide Web for people that want/need info on Third Generation F-Body's. We aren't dictators or people on power trips, we are just making sure that the boards here on TGO follow the user guildlines that EVERY MEMBER was required to adhier to before they could make thier first post. If you have a different opinion, great! Go post it on a different message board...

I just talk to my thirdgen buddies about off topic issues and such, and I am sure they are sick of it. I mean its not like thirdgen.org is the only site for thirdgens. I have had a few threads closed on me in the past, all of them due to people leering way off topic and closing it before I got any answers

So I have no problems what so ever with mods. Rules are clearly posted, and the mods highly emphasis the rules. Got to follow the rules. Sure Id like to drive down the center of the road at 150 mph, but I don't, hehe.

To the original poster, you are Temporarily Suspended. The Moderators follow the rules and do their job. It says clearly in the TGO Board Rules to not make a post complaining about things like this publicly. I only left this open for a while because I knew that more sensible Members would come here and say what I would have for me.
