Flat black or Gloss black Buckets on Black Car?

Subject says it all...I am painting my car gloss black and I can't decide if I want the headlight buckets done in the same gloss as the rest of the car or in a flat black and match the IROC lovvers on the hood.

The only other apearance mods on the car are GTS trailblazer blackouts on the back and the side emblems on the ground effects have been shaved and filled.

Brand new Z28's and IROC-Z's had semi-gloss black headlight pockets, which is a mixture of both. (a little shiny but not too much) I'd go with that.

I'd go with gloss black, I love the way the headlights reflect off the headlight buckets...looks very nice I think.

I agree the semi or flat black would look best IMO. I dont know why but the gloss looks kinda cheap/tacky around the buckets to me. Also If the nose panels arent real straight in the buckets it shows up with the gloss.

My car is black and when i repaint thats what IM doing as well.

Post a picture when you do. Most people just don't take the time/money to re-do them in semi-gloss because it's the same color.

i say if you have an ROC (w/ the hood lovers) go with flat black. i didn't go with flat black because i am puting a 2.5'' cowl w/ no lovers so the flat black would be out of place... just my $0.02

Well, you gotta keep them waxed. (and yes paint from VN was terrible, but not from the other factory)

Semi-gloss black, even on black cars. (IROC-Z, Z28, and certain other models, see Tech Data)

well i paint for a living (not cars, houses) a gloss is a bad idea way to reflective, flat absorbs the light (no reflection), semi gloss is your best bet not shiny as hell and not really dull

rs came body color.........that should be evident enough but to much gloss looks out of place or more typically overdone. i left mine with the stock look and i'm glad i did however it is your car and you should go with your instinct.

i've gotten more respect on the show circuit for leaving them stock then painting them candy or gloss black, not that it matters though.....

Black Z-28's, IROC's, and RS's didn't get different gloss on the headlight buckets. They were just painted body color (gloss black) like the rest of the car.
