Colors

I have been wanting to paint my 1985 Z28 and I've finally got the money to, but i can not decide what color to paint it. I have thought about painting it yellow with black stripes, but I don't know if it would look good. Does anyone have pictures of any thirdgen camaros with this type of paint job or close to it? If not any other pictures would be appreciated so i can decide what i want.

Thanks.

Welcome to the boards!!!

Yellow is cool......yellow with black stripes isn't my cup o' tea, but it's reaks of "old school"!

What color is it now? Have you budgeted funds for "changing" color? It's a WHOLE lot more complicated than simply repainting the same color. You have to think about all the door jambs, engine bay, blah blah blah......

As for finding pics.....

Try the search button......well.....actually...just start surfing! ANY pic has gotta have some colored car, right?

...lemme see if I can't throw you a bone ...-These are 2 yellow Irocs. Keep in mind the thirdgens are painted that very light yellow, not the good ole bright vette yellow. It's very classy if ya' ask me!

anywhoo....enjoy the boards!

Thanks. My car now is black, and I did not think about the door jambs and engine bay. Do you have any ideal how much more it costs? The place that gave me an estimate of $1250 but i did not ask if it included the places like the door jambs or engine bay.

thanks for the advice/pictures.

The cost doesn't include all that...unless you asked for it.

....on black, you could get away with not doing it, but I wouldn't. Unless you went with an entire yellow/black theme like you mentioned with the stripes. Still, I've learned that a job done "pretty good" always ends up feeling more like "pretty bad" down the road.

Unfortunately, you pay mostly for time...not paint. Painting all the "little" areas is nothing but time, time, and more time. The masking....the prepping.....the removal of all the doorjamb plastics. If you have TTops, you gotta think about all the weatherstripping.....etc. For the engine bay...well...that's pretty obvious....

I'd say either go for broke, or leave it black. Black is sexy anyhow.:werd:
