Tire Size Opinions

I just recieved my ZR1 rims that are 17x9.5 and I am thinking of puting 245/45/17 on all 4 rims. Would this be a good size tire for these rims. I have heard of people putting 275/45/17 on the rear but not sure. I know this has been talked about a lot before but I would like to hear others opinions on this. Pics of these tires would be a big help.

I've been researching 17's this week because I just bought a new set of wheels too. Here is what I found: 245/45's are meant to go on a 7.5" - 9.0" wheel. 275/40's are for a 9 - 11 inch wide wheel. I'd go with the 275's if I were you.

While we are at it, I'm going to hijack your thread...

I bought a pair of 17x7 wheels and a pair of 17x8's. According to everything I've found, the largest tires I can put on these are 225/45's on the front and 245/45's on the rear. Anyone else have alternate recommendations?

Before you criticize my choice of 7" front wheels, let's just say that these wheels might not be for a thirdgen. shhhhh!

Gambit69-- yes, all the way around (assuming the tires will clear everything) I was going based on the wheel width, but they can't be so wide that they rub. I believe others are running that tire size on 17's on a thirdgen.

You are going to want to run a 275/40 for the 17x9.5. I have that on my rear wheels and a 245/45 up front. I can get away with the 245 up front because the wheels are only 17x9. If they were a half inch wider like yours I would go bigger. A 245 tire is really meant for an 8" wide wheel.

Pics can be seen in my sig.
