Plenum polishing

Hello

I`m nearing my TBI to TPI conversion and I`m thinking of polishing my plenum to mirror look, but I have a question. Will the aluminium plenum after polishing need some clear coat or is it unnecessary? Someone told me that even if I polish it will soon fade unless I clear coat it after polishing. What do you think?
If it really needs clearcoating what clear coat should I choose? Some high temp resistant one?

Best regards
Marcin

your choices are:

uncoated- but you have to maintain it.... a small amount of wax slows it down, but you will still have to repolish/maintain it or it dulls.

clear coat paint - usually dulls it SLIGHTLY but you shouldnt have to repolish for a reasonable length of time... however oil, grease, and other engine fluids tend to wear at the clear coat.... sometimes it yellows it, other things peel it up... with enough caution and engine cleaning though, shoudlnt be a prob.

zoopseal: dip it and forget it... look good while remaining untouched, for a very very longtime... only downside is the cost of zoopseal.

dude don't clear coat anything that will just fug it all up

polish it... you won't have to polish it again for like a year, the shine will stay...

and it will only take a min or two to shine it back up again if it does dull
