New engine and custom stb
I finally broke down and bought a GM crate engine. The last engine (388 stroker) started coming apart after only 2 monthes of nonstop problems and was classified as a "race engine" so the moron of an engine builder wouldn't guarentee it.
But here it is. Its the stock replacement for the Caprices. 350 c.i. one piece rear seal, 9.6:1 hyper. pistons, hydr. roller cam, lt1/lt4 crank and rods, iron heads, and then we bolted on my current performer intake and holly 670 s/a carb. Its rated at about 265 hp. New cam, intake, and heads are in order after it gets painted.
The strut brace was made by me. Its 1" round tubing that was slightly bent to clear the air cleaner. 1/4" steel plates were used for the mounts. I used the buffing wheel on the die grinder to romove any oxidization and then cleared it.

That's a bummer that you had to downgrade your cubes, but at least this baby will hold up to some punishment
Looks good in there, keep it clean!
