Srry about starting up the wing comments earlier (mainly because 4 people with no useful comments joined in after) I just think even if you had the exact same style wing just with straighter edges to match the rest of the car the car as a whole would have a much cooler line

I can see it now, A guy in a nice thirdgen Z28 pulls up to you at a light. ( I puled up to this guy in a riced out camaro with big chrome rims and a huge wing,... and he smoked my pants off!) hahaha! The car looks sweet! I like the sidewall too. I wouldn't go so small that you would bend them up every time you go over a pot hole.
Oh yeah, now you have to change your sig!

I would recommend next time you buy tires, go with the 35 or even 30 sidewall tires. The bigger sidewall gives the car the appearance that it is sitting higher than it really is. It also appears that the wheels are not tucking, even though they pretty much are. Kinda throws off the overall effect I know you are going for with 19's. Other than that minor detail, I think it looks great! Cant wait to see some vids of you driving around and burning out hehehhe.

I agree with this. Looks a heck of alot better, but the 40 series look a bit beefy lol. Makes the wheel look much larger.

Fly- Nice car, it looks good. Got to love LS1 power ...
Do I like the wing? Alittle - Is it my car? Nope its Flynlows so it doesnt matter if I like it or not. People get a grip already.
So what kind of work was involved to fit the 19"?

Before anyone reads this let me say this is in no way to down flynlows car at all. I think its cool that he does what he wants body style wise and doesnt have a "me too" car that alot of others have. I might not like everything about his car but thats why its his car and not mine.
Im just curious ......
Why oh WHY spend 10g's on a ls1? For 10gs you could get ALOT more powerful motor.
I have been wondering this since you posted the information about your car and the motor.
Im sure all the "LS1's are g0ds nutbags are gonna flame on me for this but oh well i was just wondering thanks.

such negative comments from people........

this site is really going down hill and makes me embarrassed to even be apart of it. who cares what's done to his damn car, either you like the rims or you don't. if you can build a ls1 car for cheaper then by all means do it.......some thirdgen owners really **** me off and make me wish i had a mustang. how can people be so quick to point fingers and pick things apart when their own cars could use some work? leave people alone and move on unless you have something constructive to say. everyone claims they can do this or that, but the reality is maybe a handful of people actually doing it on here while the rest are just dreaming. if you don't have anything nice to say then keep your mouth shut, doing things right costs money.
flynlow92rs the more i look at the wheels the extra sidwall makes them look a bit out of proportion however i think it's definately necessary with the weight of the vehicle and the rim size. either way i think it looks good. have you weighed them yet? i'm interested to know how heavy the cast 19's are....

The wheels look a million times better! I hated those other ones you had. One more thing, how the hell did you afford all of this stuff for your car?! Your suposed to be a broke *** college student like me! I know for a fact I would NEVER let a car that I had that much money in sit outside at my school to be pissed on by a bunch of drunks.

doing things right costs money.
Dont you mean having someone do it for you costs money? Seriously 10g's on a ls1? And i wasnt making negative comments towards his car at all. Just asking HIM a question.
You people who "do things yourself" Know what and were 10 g's could get you and its a whole lot more than a ls1 with some nitrous. :hail:
I guess it doesnt matter anyway, this thread will be locked soon since people cant agree to disagree.

I have to agree with Kandied on this issue.
I think the reason why these immature attitudes exist is because
of the age of third gen owners. Most of these guys are prob in their teens and early 20's and have much growing up to do.
I also get embarrassed when I read some of these flaming attacks. I visit other boards like z06vette.com and they are so mature and professional on that board. I wish some of that attitiude would be transferred to this board.
If you have anything negative to say, please say it in a kind way and put some thought or meaning behind it.
I stopped posting on this board a long time ago becuase of these same circumstances.
Grow up folks!

As for the wing comments i seriously want to apologize. I brought it up first just because i thought that with the lines of his car and especially now with the new wheels it kind of threw off the line of the car. Saying "yo wtf is with that huge wing, youre an idiot, id never do that to a third gen" does not qualify as constructive criticism. Ill be the first to admit that at times ive even done stuff like that but i try not too, and usually will apologize if i go to far and yes as stated above often this is out of immaturity, im a young kid too. Im so totally off on a rant now some of the more recent posts have gone out of hand. A bunch of you either need to grow up, or at least realize that a lot of what youre saying is pointless or just immature

here's something to think about. If he would have gotten everything for "cheep" someone would have said "You get what you pay for". so basicly you can't please everyone, so just do what you want. but be prepaired to have people not always like what you do becasue everyone has different tast.

VERY nice rims, i've been lookin forward to seeing them installed on your car since you posted about ordering the rims a couple weeks ago
as for the talk of spending 10K....yeah i agree that $10,000 could have been used to get WAY more power (like toss a nice big block in there, or drop in a 383)....but like someone said 10K is not bad for:
- the price of the engine, tranny, nitrous, gas tank, and all the other little parts
- aallll the labor involved in the swap
sometimes you gotta spend more money than you want to to get things done....i mean swapping in an engine and transmission in a college dorm parking lot, with no tools or engine hoist, without the know-how to breeze through the swap since he's prob. never done an engine/tranny swap before....kinda makes it difficult
so yep although $10,000 could have gone alot farther, for what he wanted and what he was able to do, it's good money spent
keep up the good work with your car! although i too have to jump on the 'ditch-the-wing' bandwagon

I spent 10,000 on an LS1?
The next time you are at a grocery store, run up to someone and say......"Your gonna spend $.79 on a loaf of bread?" See the reaction you get....Same idea, different amount of money and goods.......You can build a 383 that's faster for less? This is a free country.....by all means don't let me spending 10K on an LS1 hold you back.......
19doug90: Apology accepted....
I would in fact like a cookie, Otis Spunkmeyer....mildly warmed......Your right it's just another LS1......Your right i've never seen a built up SBC or BBC before.....
I'm still waiting on him to post some pictures of his engine.....:lala:

I didnt ask for your comment or how you felt anyway boy. I was asking Flynlow a question not you. If you feel the need to randomly blirt out useless information maybe you should join the chatroom!
Like i said i wasnt making negative comments about his car i was just asking HIM a question. Get over yourself and let him answer if he wants to.
I see your logic. One of those " do it for me" people.
Nice car man. Rims look better than the old ones.

br()bert: An LS1 is a better foundation for engine building IN MY OPINION......gets 30 mpg and makes 300 HP with a STOCK engine......
I didn't spend $10,000 on an LS1, I've mentioned it SEVERAL times.....
It cost me $7,000 for the LS1 and T56
The other $3,000 was for extra stuff (rear, tank, etc)

yeah it could have been done cheaper if you could have done it yourself....yeah you could have got much more power for the money doing it yourself....but i'm a college student myself and know that you gotta pay more for things sometimes since there's absolutely no way you can do it yourself (dorm parking lot, daily driver).......i think $10K for parts and labor is very fair, and since it couldn't be a DIY project, it's the only way it could have been done
nice job w/ it
edit: if you weren't talking to me, i'll gladly stick my foot in my mouth...

Flynlow, just ignore all the ridiculous bs in this thread. Your car has come a long way, and now has the power to back up the look. Keep rockin the car.

I dont like either of the rims (orig or these). Personally if I was a Camaro owner I'd go get chrome Iroc wheels in whatever size your heart desires. But thats just my .02
I agree with tpiroc and all else who made comments about the more narrow minded people on the board. The is a terrible "clan" mentality on message boards and this particular one is one of the worst I have seen. When I first started frequenting this board back in the late 90's (bowtiroc) everyone was here to help, and it was a much smaller member # back then. When you asked "how to", you got a "how to" answer, not somebody's opinion. Like in this post, he asked how you liked his wheels, not the wing. If it is not your cup of tea, well then you are allowed to have your own opinion, but when you go into these rants about "if I saw that on a car, I'd rip it off and burn it", just keep your mouth shut. It seems very funny to me that most of the people who are making these comments have cars that are boring, is it that they don't have the ***** to mod there car, or is it that they are not creative enough to come up with original ideas. Being that way is not a crime, but when you say that someone else's car is stupid just because it is not what you like then that is where it becomes an issue. FLYINLOW's car may not suit everyone, but it is original and it is his creation.
As for the wheels and tires, I really dig them. I actually like the larger sidewall out back because it really fills the fenderwell and the almighty "tuck" is there...I think they look great.

Some people enjoy stock cars. Modding your car does not make you better or worse than a stock car owner. I like the stock look, but engine...no haha. But to the wheels I just dont like those wheels theres just something about them that screams Escalade to me.
That is why I said liking stock cars is not a crime, just don't bash others for the mods they do. If you are driving a mid 80's, 6cyl, beatup f-body, don't dish it out, there is nothing wrong with driving a car like this I am just making a point.

Whats funny is People ask what others think about their car or rims then bitch when someone makes a comment they dont like. If you cant take the comments then dont ask for any! And the real kick in the *** is FLYNLOW isnt the one bitching about the negative comments! People need to get a life and stop defending someone else's car.
FLynlow how do you like the tires? I recently bought some of the same brand only db ultra high performance kind. Just wondering what you though about them.

Read the next statement as in general posting.
If you do not like the car keep it to yourself, its hurting the site letting our mouths run wild. I know we all have done it. But we have to move on.
Read this as in the post presented.
Do I like his car? It wasn't asked.
Do I like his wing? It wasn't asked.
Could I do an LS1 swap or build an engine cheaper? It wasn't asked.
For me to tear his car apart when the only question asked was how do the rims look is just ignorance to him, other poster's, and the people who host the site.
BTW, those rims look quite a bit better. Although I am not struck on "big" rims.

Making fun of my wing is like doing a burnout, yeah you are making alot of noise and smoke, but is it getting you anywhere?

Making fun of my wing is like doing a burnout, yeah you are making alot of noise and smoke, but is it getting you anywhere?
Stick it on the front of the car, thats where the real racers put it.

FLYNLOW, I will race you
(he he)This is a fun post, I just took about 30 minutes off work to read through this. It's starting to sound like the "RS to SS" post that got going a few weeks ago.
I believe this is all in fun, you post pics and ask what folks think and they tell you. I know you don't care what they think, and you should not. If you remember back on my old 92 Z, I painted it yellow and put on this huge aftermarket wing, guess what? Everyone and there grandma called it "*****" and "ugly". I could have cared less. It was my dam car, and I thought it was better than the stock 92 Z28 wing. So, get on with your bad self, stay true to what you like, not what ales everyone else. Hell, I like SS decals, NO ONE else does, well F-U-C-K EM!
I would be glad to pull up next to you at a car show and be considered in the same 3rd gen class as you, your car has your own style, and that is what makes it all worth it. It's good to see something different, not stock looking. The wheels look good, 19's you just don't see at all. You will have to tell me what "modifications" you had to prefrom to get them to mount up to your car, would like to know for sure.
Also, some guy posted on page one about the average age of 3rd geners being teenagers to early 20's. Okay, that is true, but don't put everyone in that catagory, I am only 24 and I have done more in my life than 90% of the people on this board put together. I don't throw fits on the boards and act like a baby, or put anyones car down for that matter. I am in my early to mid 20's and take offense to what was said "Tommy aka Mr. Z06" said. However, he did say 'most" so that is okay.
Dude, keep rocking with the car, and to anyone who does not like it, that is cool also, just tell them thank you for the comments and have a nice day. Fast 3rd gens, big wheels, wicked interiors and great paint are what I believe make for a perfect 3rd gen, keep it up.

Yeah with my old crappy tires i used to slide all over in the rain lik ei was on ice, now i have to MAKE the car slide.

Comments like that puts you in the "young know it all" catagory. At the age of 24 you may have done dome stuff, but you still have alot to learn. Wisdom comes with age, not post count OR anything else!

Come on guys, keep it on topic. He did not post this thread to get opinions on his wing. If you have a question about why he has a wing, why he has an LS1, why he paid what he paid for what he got, etc., there is a feature called private messaging for that. If he choses not to answer you cause he's answered the same questions about it 7500 times, I don't blame him
But this thread is about his rims and not the other stuff on his car or in his engine bay. Thanks.

I didn't spend $10,000 on an LS1, I've mentioned it SEVERAL times.....
It cost me $7,000 for the LS1 and T56
The other $3,000 was for extra stuff (rear, tank, etc)

I think your new wheels look much better than your previous set. All the $ aside, your opinion about an LS1 being a better "foundation" is really pointless. You have a stock LS1 in your car. The same exact engine every 98+ v8 f body has. When you had it out you didn't even put a cam in it or do any performance modifications. You even left the stock manifolds on, and that is because there are no good alternatives out there for the third gen LS1 swap, which makes your "foundation" a not so good foundation in the first place. Saying something like "I'll embaress you" is pretty damn cocky, and arrogant. There are plenty of guys here who would tear you a new one, but you'll find that out soon enough. So you are a poor college kid again? You just spend close to $15,000 on your car, and you can't afford things anymore? Not long before you did the swap I recall you asking people for charity so you could fix your burnt car. I find it absolutely sickening for you to even dare ask for money when you had all that money stashed away. I would feel very betrayed if I had tried to help you out. Good luck with your "poor college" budget.

I agree.... I don't understand how someone can be broke enough to be begging for handouts... and then drop 15K into their ride. Hope that wasn't your student loan flynlow. I know I should set a better example as a moderator... but I was shocked when I saw that you were throwing around a roll like that after that whoa is me thread. I would think you should at least offer to pay back the people who helped you first.

If I recall correctly, it was someone else's suggestion to take donations, and Flynlow hesitantly and gratefully said he'd accept them but wasn't asking for them directly...
ANYWAY... how about some pics of the 19's on the whole car?

and I'm not jealous of the LS1... I think it's sick as hell.. but I'd still rather have my ride.
