92 Rag

I just painted my 92 Z28 convert....the car is Black...did the black cars have the area around the headlights done in semi gloss like the colored cars, or did they just leave them black?

92 Rag, I am not sure but I think they match the car when the car was black. I would ask on the History/ Restoration board if no one here knows for sure.

I have a '92 z in balck and my headlights are painted that flat black color... I wouldn't thik the rag tops were any different, but I've seen a white '91 with black headlight surrounds - but it was far from stock...

To the best of my knowledge, all Z28s came with gloss black headlight buckets. Obviously on a black car, they would be a virtual match to the rest of the paint. On my car I'm going to paint them semi-gloss to match my grill that I repainted in semi-gloss.

It is definately a semi or even flat black - I had an RS before my Z and I painted the buckets myself - the first time with gloss (didn't look right) then again with flat.

But like I said, my car is black and the buckets are a "duller" black than the car. She's only got 50,000 and the original paint!

Thanks guys...I think I will go with the Semi gloss... the car had original paint up to about 3 weeks ago...but I had repainted the nose 3 times prior to that...due to stone chips and bug damage so I forgot whether they were semi when I got the car ...Thanks
