Pimp My Ride?!?! Ughhhh.....
Did anyone else happen to watch "Pimp My Ride" on MTV today? I've seen a couple episodes, the Mustang they did up looked alright.
Anyone, tonight they took a 80/81 Trans Am that was in rough shape, and somehow made it even worse. Butchered the hood bird, paint was one ugly color, all the accessory crap they added was brutal. And the 15" turbo TA rims on the car look better than those nasty 20" or whatever they were on the car. Just one ugly mess...

For anyone who has not seen this show, this link will basically break down how every episode turns out:
Pimp My Ride: The Proven Formula
P.S. - I saw the Mustang one... they had a good plan going with the exhaust tips and flamethrower but ruined it by saying it's not "street-legal" and then putting a TV in the ceiling and 20" rims on a 35+ year old car.

that car had soooooo much potential. if they had painted it black or fire engine red it would have looked so much bad ***. then gone with 18 five spoke rims instead of those nasty 20". the chandelier was a travisty, same with the coffee maker. the makup crap in the back needed to go for sure. other than that it could have been cool. def. would never let them touch my car.

Thanks for saving me the time. I've seen several episodes and most are lame. The Stang was probably the best yet though.
I was curious to what they'd do with the T/A as I've had a '78 and '79. I got tired and decided crash and maybe catch it in a few days on a rerun.
I joked with the kids and said they'd probably put 20" Daytons or something on it...LOL Guess I wasn't far off.
What do you expect with a show called Pimp...Hah!

If you have seen the show, that link is friggin' hilarious! Pure comedy.
Sad part is, look how beat that TA was and it still had massive potential. Doesn't take much to make one look hot. I turned the show on and the FIRST thing I saw was that first hood bird they put on the car...That told me all I needed to know

The TA wasn't too bad.. the expresso machine and chandalier was a little much but I really liked the color it was alot better than some of the other shows... but I dunno what this has to do with thirdgens
Since they always do crazy stuff based off what the car owners tell them they like, you should send your thirdgen in and tell them something crazy. Like you drive a 3rd gen but you really like scuba diving, tetherball, and cotton candy.

I thought the TA came out okay. Those rims were fugly :nono: I didnt mind the paint that much, although i would have gone with black and a gold bird (bandit style) The rims made me wanna cry. The one thing i REAALLLY dont understand about the show is they dont show them doing any mechanical work, no engines, suspension or anything, wtf is the point of spending 20-30 grand on body and interior **** if you have a crapped out engine that could go any day. They also put every car on huge 20's, id like to see them interview the people after they drive their car. My IROC is only on stock 16's and you feel every bump in the road, If someone bought me 20's i wouldnt put them on. Muscle cars arent ment to ride on low profile tires. I pray they never get their hands on a 3rd gen, especially since all the retards in my school will probably think whatever they do to it is hot and ill have to hear everyday "why dont you put tv's and 20's on your car and a 2 foot high rear spoiler"
haha alright im done venting

do they ever do anything performance wise or do they just do stuff for looks. Like the trans am , x could barely do a burnout , i bet with the low pros he could do one , but do they every do performance.

I laughed even harder when they said that they had those ugly Mercedes knock-offs CUSTOM MADE for the Mustang. I never thought that a Custom Made wheel would require adapters. If you noticed when they put it on, they used an adapter to convert the 4 lug on the Mustang to a 5 lug that would make the wheel fit on.
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
That show is SERIOUSLY retarded. I would NEVER let them touch my car.
The fact that they do ABSOLUTELY no engine/suspension/tranny mods is just a testiment to how dumb that show is.
Also, if you look closely, EVERY car they paint is just outside, they never paint the door jambs, engine bay, or anything else that NEEDS to be painted. They mask the windows, shut the door and spray away! You never even see them prime the cars.
All in all, amusing entertainment, but very low budget for what that shop is supposedly known for. I'm gonna go pick up the most beat up 1960's Datsun I can find and then submit it to them.
