"Looks like new" engine

Does anyone know how to clean the engine (everything under the hood) to where it looks like it just rolled off the show room? Thanks!

You mean to look like mine

I've since used Mothers Back to Black on the intake to the throttle body and I also got rid of the stains on my intake

I'd imagine with an engine that didn't look like this when you got it after 9 years, you just have to be very patient and take your time. Most basic cleaners will do it but it will take alot of elbow grease.

Coatal(I believe) makes a product called Power Clean,, it's a fairly stong cleaner/degreaser (and rude to breathe). If you live within a mile to a car wash (manual one),, you can go there & pressure wash the engine. I't sbest to do this at 1st start of the day while the motor is cold. Spray on some power clean at the car wash,,let it sit for e few then pressure wash it clean,,, extreme dirt may require doing this more than once. I usually wash my engine about once a month,,, I hate working on an engine covered in filth

I 've been meaning to do the same but have heard from people that it can ruin some electrical stuff. What electrical stuff is more prone to being exposed to shorts or damage from getting wet? Also the pressure thing at the car wash...what exactly does it shoot out? (I ve always wondered)Thanks in advance.

I've yet to have a problem by doing that,,, except for a certain mustan I'm working on (grrr) but that problem happen for a reasong I found out.
on the TPI,,, I always took out my air filter just as a precaution,,,wet filter=bad
and on my camaro,,,I use weighted a coffee can to cover the the top of the carb.

As long as your wiring is good (i.e. no hack jobs with elec tape or bad insulation) you shouldn't have a problem since most of your connections are weather-pak (sp?) connectors to keep things like water out,, and relays and things of the sort are usually sealed with an epoxy inside to keep water out. The biggest concern is to not get too happy blasting your distributor

btw,,pressure wash,,,water & scented soap
the pressure does most of the work ,,,and can cut skin
