Ok , i got 2500 , i need rims , what should i get .

I got the new mecham wing and the ram air 2 hood ive had. I dont know what rims to get . I want a 17 by 9.5 or 10 in the rear and i would like 9.5 up front but i guess i could go with 8 up front. I was thinkin boyd smoothies or smoothie 2. Id get the front either 9.5 with 5.25 bs or 8 inch with 4.5 and the rear 9.5 would be 5.5 and the 10s would be ? 5.75. I was lookin at these. I really want to spend around a grand on rims , maybe 1200. And then i need tires but no biggie about that . Im not gonna spend 2500 on rims and tires so keep that in mind. Maybe snypers , i dunno . I dont want to use adaptors. But what do you think would look good on my car. thanks guys.

I've haven't seen the smoothies on a bird before, so that might be a good combo, maybe a photoshop

I'm gonna vote for the Boyd's, probably much better build also...

These look good on a car like yours. They are forgelines.

Not too sure where to get them. They come in all kinds of sizes. Forgelines make higher end wheels like Fikse and stuff like that. Unfortunately I think they may be somewhat pricey. But dont take my word for it

The Intro "Classics" have a very similar design to the "Vista 5" wheel, which looks almost identical to my Boyd "Shrike" wheels. It appears that the biggest difference is an engraved line down the spoke of each wheel. However, the basic shape of the wheel is almost identical.

Here is a pic of my thrid gen with the Boyd "Shrike". It should give you a better idea of what the Intro "Classic" will look like on a third gen.

boyd coddington smoothies , in 18x8 in the front and 18x9.5 in the rear. I was gonna order the 17's but i decided i like to shop the car, 18s would be more noticible and cooler. SO i went with the 18's. I think im gonna be happy with the 18's.

nice choice. I think you should get tires from Tire Rack because they will probably be cheeper than what you would pay locally.

I payed $60 for mounting and balancing at my local shop.

i talked to 1 shop and they said to just get em from tirerack and not to even check places , he said they have the best prices, he also said he would mount and balance a 35 and 40 series tire, so i guess ill either go to the chevy garage , since they do vettes , and i know the guys there so i can trust em , or go to a ***** place .

Shane still learning as he goes... Post what tires you got and the prices for them and installation, please.

I picked a random tire on tirerack.com: 245/45WR17 Yokohama AVS dB S2. On their website, it's $615.78 total (shipping included).

And found this price on 1010tires.com without shipping calculated:
$723.96.

I can't imagine how much it would cost locally, considering money has to be put in to having a storefront and paying employees to sell them to you. Tirerack has long been revered for their great tire prices, even when figuring the 30-something dollar shipping charge that is more like a joke on a $600 online order.

casey , then u find me some cool rims to get , those were the best i could find, i dont want something wild, i plan to keep this car forever and would like to buy rims that i will like forever. Thats why im leaning towards the boyds.
That's my fault man... I thought they were Torq Thrust IIs. They look just like them, but getting them in 18" is going to look great. Personally, I'm a big fan of those Shrike rims on 9T1 Z-28's hot *** ride. :hail:

still though, they shouldn't be much more. On tire racks website they had the equivilent tire, AVS ES100's for $105,, x 2 = 210 + shipping and install = more!!!!!!!

when i got my cooper zeons last year they were 600 for the 4 with balancing and mounting, i had a local shop get them and balance them. I think ill just get the tires from the rack and have a ***** shop mount and balance them . Question about billet custom rims like i got , is it possible to have the valve stem mounted on the inside so that you dont see it. I mean you could still rear in from the front of the opening on the rims or go from the back . I was gonna ask if they could do this with my rims but i forgot when i ordered them .

Not even we can deny it? Are you on a mission to prove something to us or what? If tirerack sold Cooper tires in the stock Trans-Am tire size, they'd probably cost $70 each at most. Assume about $20 shipping and you're looking at $160. That leaves $80 to get them mounted and balanced, which you'd never find anyone charging you that much for two tires. What size tires did you get anyway?

try again buddy, the cooper tires were the same price at the same shop as the yokohama's were, they were $2 more then the kumho. The coopers are rated higher so i got them instread.

So, in summary, on tirerack's website, we have an approximate equivelant to Shane's Cooper tires here:

215/65VR15 Yokohama AVS dB S2 Blackwall In Stock $74.00 each

Shipping to my house is $15 for 2 of those tires. That's a grand total of $163, almost EXACTLY what I just said.

You seriously need to learn to listen to some of the people on this board, we're not all idiots. Post your tire size.

Shane, that comes out to all of $8 more than what you paid, assuming you get two tires mounted for about $30. My point was that YOU think we're stupid because "maybe we should look around" and you say "this shop near me charged less for tires better then what tire rack seels to mount and to balance them ...they're expensive." It's practically the same price!

I will definitely apologize for belittling you earlier with "Shane still learning as he goes... " My fault.
