cleaning motor
well heres the motor of my car and some other pics, i had posted some that were bad but heres some high quality ones. what do you guys think? i have cleaned the motor with some stuff called purple lightning or something it did ok, but i scrubbed some paint off the strut towers... EEK!!! what else do u recommend to clean the motor other than elbow grease and that green stuff?
well your motor is rusted....it needs to be hot tanked and either painted or powdercoated. you can clean rust with soap and water.....that is if your talking detaling show wise. otherwise all the other tips posted before will work just fine.
if it were mine i'd start out with doing the basic cleaning, once that was done i'd replace the coolant tanks with new ones...well worth the little $$$. possibly hand polish as much as i could just doing some basic wet sanding on some of the tubing and metal that can be seen easily.
you don't have much, however the few things that are open really stand out bad.

yeah that's what i was thinking. i really wish i could just pull everything and clean it and then drop it back in but since it's the DD i cant do that. and now that you've posted here kandied i saw in another post you dont wax your car... why not and what do you use to get the shine you do without waxing? thanks...

when i started going to major shows and asking around everyone with $10,000+ had these products in their hands. figured if it worked enough for them i'd try it....haven't been let down yet.
wax puts a coating on your paint basically sealing it. this can be good and bad. depnds on the paint mostly but this can cause quick deterioration of your paint by trapping chemicals that eat your paint.
takes a little more work this way but paint lasts longer as i've said my paint has many miles and years on it. except for the hood...

Start **** canning extra stuff on the motor. Get rid of the heater valve, air pump (you guys dont have e*check, right?) and AC if you can stand it. That stuff uglifies a motor, then you'll have some room to actually start cleaning it, which is also something I need to do lol.
