Long Scratch - how to fix?

Hey all,
I've got this nice 2 foot long scratch on my pass. door (no idea how it got there, could be someone's jacket or somehting) It goes to bare metal.
What can I do about this? I know how to fix paint chips; is this similar? The car is white.

Thanks all
Elliott

Consider it a 2' chip

Try GS27. its $14.99 from Pep Boys and it works. I've used it many times. It depends how deep it is really. Try Meguiars body scrubb also. If you care about your car and the scratch is pretty deep, take it in to a body shop

If it's down to the paint, no abrasive compound like GS27 or anything else will do jack. What you need to do is actually fill the hole with paint. Touch up bottles are available at Wall Mart, Parts America, etc. You need to use a bunch of thin coats until the scratch is actually built up higher than the paint around it. Then you can wetsand it with 1200 or so until it's all smooth. Then buff it and wax it. This is the best you'll get without a repaint. Because you have clearcoat and the touchup paint isn't clearcoat, it's not going to look perfect, but it shouldn't be real bad.
