irocz eric -its painted with sherwin williams base/ clear washed with soap and water, then a degreaser, a grey scuff pad and sanding paste, rinse with water, degreaser,an adhesion promoter for plastic then the base color to match the outside and used a air dry urethane clear i over reduced everything somewhat so you can still see the grain but i have been thinking about sanding them smooth and reshooting it

Hmmm lookin at it I like it! Very good job but for the wing I would not do a high rise spoiler I would put a 4th gen wing on it that way it'll break up the "loud" on the car and make it more pleasent to look at!
But different to say the least but seriously those wings dont belong on these cars...if it was bigger and filled up that rear area up a lil better maybe it would look good....
FLYN is the only one that I have seen that can pull off the large wing in back!

I'd be curious to see what some of the more outspoken detractors of Trooper's ride are driving. I'll bet not one of 'em has pulled off anywhere near the level of workmanship and attention to detail that's apparent in Trooper's car.
It's OK not to like it; it's not OK to be a douchebag about it.

some of you need to lighten up on the comments...go a little to far sometimes
I think it looks alright...i could live with the color only things id change would be the license plate chain thing, ditch the wing, and the floormats...other then that car looks great
i do like the s10 wheels and the interior overall looks great
Very nice time and effort also

Sorry but "If you dont like opinions then dont post it" is not the solution. When you signed up for these forums, there is a little section about using some tact when posting negative opinions. The general idea is that if you cant say something nice, then dont say anything at all. When this thread first appeared, I did not have a comment because the car is not my style. To each their own. But now that I see everyone bashing this guy, I gotta stand up for him. Use some tact instead of taking a cheap shot and there will be no problems.

Maybe its early maybe I'm to hung over, but that is one of the only aftermarket, not original, wings I have seen that looks decent on the Trans Ams. I am usually not a fan of the turbo hoods but that one blends well with that car.

Actually if you just tone down the spoiler a little. I was playing with photoshop and decided to clip the wing a little. Maybe an idea over a stock spoiler.

Or with 80's style wrap around spoiler. I would also paint the door handle either yellow like the bottom of your car or black, I just don't like them in body color.

I do have a few questions, why did you leave the radio pod black/grey or is it just hidden in the picture.
What paint did you use on the inside for all the yellow, it seems to have covered real good and survived well on the silplates.

tmx & crazyhawaiian thanks for the support. I know its not everyones taste and like it that way . The car always has people at it when i park it ,a blast at car cruises, whats not to like? Just for the record i like sport compacts just not fwd performance cars. I work for a GM dealership with a pick of cars and wanted a 3rd gen firebird combining all stuff i like . Its not there yet but getting closer. I posed it to show the changes i made from last year and I get a lot of good info from the searches on topics . and keep in mind youngsters i`ve has sex in more cars than most of you have owned (sometimes even with someone )
thanks all

aviator857 thank you i type so slow i didnt see the photoshop but i would like to see a 4th gen wing . the finish has held up well the radio pod isnt paintewd i just like the contrast but i am thinking of painting the dash top to match the outside of the car
Trooper you have to get the windows tinted and put a 4th gen spoiler/wing on there... other than that looks like something outa the 80, i like the paint scheme but the interior isnt flying with me. Nevertheless good job so far.
You know what, it seems to me that soon as someone see's a domestic car with a burner wing one it they start bashing it.

Lets break it down,
1. Body- From what I can tell, it looks smooth to me. The paint is bright...no denying that. But, the colors work well together. The wing, not my bag, but it's nice to see something different besides T/A wraps, hi rises, and 5"s. Good job
2. Interior- Bright, but black and yellow ALWAYS looks good when used to set off one-another. Again...good job
3. Wheels- I can only say one thing, BASTARD!! Now I need to find a set too!!
They look great!
Overall, neat-o 'Bird!

Nice Job Trooper! I'm envious of your ability to do such a good job without spending hardly anything. Very good workmanship.
Most of all I commend you for building something YOU LIKE....knowing well in advance that it is eccentric and will not go over well with some of the more ignorant members of the thirdgen community. Who gives a damm about trends or what's cool...do what you like, everyone else will get over it!
I too have been considering those wheels for awhile now. Have you considered stipping the clearcoat and polishing them out? I'd be interested in seeing that.
I like the camaro side skirts on the bird, I've considered using 85-90 TA ones on my 91 RS.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

drain89 havent thought of stripping them but have thought of painting the grey part between spokes yellow
twinturboroROC been looking at green window tint just havent found sheets big enough to do the rear glass. As Kieth Richards said "bad publicity is better than none at all"

yeah definately black on the window tints.... in my opinion that might be too much green.. it might choke the paint scheme of the car.... it might actualy get the "hurt the eye effect"
too bad your getting so much trash about it though, it kinda depressing to see other 3rd genners bash you just cause its outa the norms... but people like you and flynlow tend to have the most interesting cars around.... everyone got a 350 iroc w t tops etc etc etc, seen one seen em all. i like different, makes people think instead of just shaking the head ok... oh BTW LS1's are junk

Kill it.... kill it till its dead. Sorry man, but I think you got the wrong car to put that color on. I had to adjust the tint for my screen so I wouldnt have to squint. Sorry man, just not my type of ride. My opinion isnt gunna change your mind, just my .02. When Flynlow tells you your wing is a bit out of place, then you know you have problems
