I just went to half a dozen parts stores, and the ones that didn't show "not available" showed the same part number as the lifts for a steel hood. I'm sure they'd fit just fine, but I'd rather not have the hood snap in half when I tried to close it. Lifts for the fiberglass hoods must be available somewhere, after all the early crossfire cars had glass hoods... Anyone know where I can find these or will I end up adapting a prop rod to hold my hood up?

82-84 camaro was the years for the fibergalss hoods,,, that is what you would need to ask for at a parts store. Or 1404 5326 is the *factory* part number for the supports,,, any parts store should be able to cross reference it for the correct replacement

I had them look up the part for an 82 Camaro, and it was no different. Apparently they just have an "82-92" parts look up for that part. I'll try having them cross the factory number, though they'll probably try to sell me one for a steel hood still. At the places that had a book you could look up your own part number in, they showed the same p.n. for "hood" and for "hood, steel"

I believe Mighty Lift(?) is the one that has lifts for fiberglass hoods,, Autozone carries them

Your local junk yard has plenty in stock. Go find a hood that won't stay open and nab the hinges. My IROC hinges were totally shot, but work PERFECTLY with my harwood. I can position the hood at any point and it stays.

Well, it turns out I would have wasted my money if I had bought new lifts. After reading the replies about using worn lifts for steel hoods I first smacked my self in the head and said "Duh! Why didn't I think of that" Then I went ahead and installed the new hood and tried to close it. Sure enough, the lifts that were showing signs of weakness on my steel hood are perfect on this one. Thanks for the ideas!
Man, my struts must really be worn out, cuz they won't even hold my Harwood open. I am resorting to the "vise grip" method on the shaft of the hood strut. Guess I'll have to go to the boneyard.
