You can tell by looking at the lines in the spokes that they're not factory, but judging by the lugnut pattern, they look like about 16" wheels, no where NEAR 20"s.

....but I'm not calling shenanigans, just be careful. I hope they are legit!

now that you said that... they look any bigger than 16''s, but that could be just a pic of the style of wheel.

Maybe I read it wrong, but it says 18's... and 20's are coming soon...?

Hate to burst your bubble, but theyve had some rims LIKE that out for a while now. I was selling this exact set of 18" Chrome Iroc Rims, sold for $1,900. there a bit different. Nicer if you ask me...

Are you talking about the 88-90 style after market for 18 inch?

I know they have had the 85-87 models for a long time..hell..I have had mine for 3 years now...lol.

But we are talking about the double vein 88-90 syle in larger sizes...these have never been available.

Yeah you have the 85-87 style Iroc rims. Those are the single line style that like you said have been out for a while. The 88-90 style are what is being talked about. I think they should make 17's also. I wish they had beter pics.

I remember seeing an ad in my old magazines for 17" 88-90 style IROC wheels. In fact, I saw those before I saw the early style in 17". Once the early style showed up, I didn't see the late style anymore.

Fast Electrics: those are the older style; there is ONE vein running down the center of each spoke. This thread is regarding 88-90 IROC wheels with TWO veins down each spoke. Come on people, read the thread first... Mr. Z06 and mike83z-28 already mentioned this.

As for the auction, the picture is obviously of a 16 inch wheel. The seller looks pretty legit after looking through his previous sales, but hey, you never know these days.

It may take a few phone calls, but I'm sure you could get them bare, and paint 'em yourself.

....FWIW, that's what I'd do if I got those rims!

Ok, who makes these rims? I have been trying to find the newer style irocs for years. I have been searching and still can't find the original company.

Ive never seen 88-90 IROC rims bigger than used 16 inch on Hawks, they have 85-87 in big sizes and the add says 85-92, but they arent 88-90 style. Id die for 17s in 88-90, no chrome

From the looks of it.. not many people know the difference and/or pay attention. Insane. Two stripes look a lot better to me.

Regardless of which style you like better, I can't beleive someone would think there's not much difference! The entire shape of the spoke is different! The hub is different! The whole positive/negative space thing......

...it's like one of your buddies that's not into cars saying Camaro, Firebird, there's not much difference!

Hey guys,
If anyone is interested in 17s, contact Manny Rodriguez at kg_rodriguez@sbcglobal.net I've emailed him since he had 18's up on eBay. He responded that if he got enough interest, he'd work on getting the 17's. He's putting together a list of names and emails. Please let him know you heard about him from Marcos Galletti. Thanks.

The ones he has right now are 18's in chrome and gold chrome but he's willing to do other styles (painted or polished) if there is demand. In any case if you email him your name and address, he will be more motivated to get them.

Price seems to be for only rims? Even though chromed, I would rather get some nice custom billets like boyds for that price. I would love to have 17X9.5inch Iroc rims in a polished finish though. Very fine looking wheel.

SWEET!!! It's about time someone made bigger late style Iroc rims.

Here is my only concern, the stock rims weigh a ton, I wonder what these weigh.

Remember to write to Mr. Rodriguez if interested

89IROCZTPI, 89 Iroc Z, and any others interested...please make sure and write Manny Rodriguez to the email posted above. He claims he's gotten no responses yet from this site and if this doesn't happen, the 17's won't either. Thanks for your support.

I dunno about yours, but my stockers are pretty darn light. How much lighter than aluminum do you want???

...maybe I missed it, but is there any pricing yet?

This thread was a let down. When I heard "streched IROC rims" I was thinking, about a stock pair of IROC rims that where 16X10 wide or wider or even better a 15X10 or wider rim. If they made such a thing that would be awesome, haveing a Fat drag radial or ET street on a stock looking rim

I emailed the guy, lemme dig up the convo:

Dear Sir,

Marcos Golletti from Thirdgen.org mentioned that you were, or "might" be producing 1988-1990 style Iroc rims in 17 and 18 inch sizes. I'll be up front and tell you that I'm only looking for information right now, but wanted to see what you had to offer, and what kind of pricing was available.

I'm also not sure what finishes would be available, but If I were to purchase a set, I would like to have mine painted like factory wheels, no chrome, no polish.

...thanks for your time.

Chris Maucere

HIS RESPONSE:

well Chris, I had a set of 18s chrome. It sold locally. They received alot of attention on ebay, but didn't sell. I'm having some 18s being manufactured, looks like a month before the finished product is complete. Unfortunately due to costs I can only run chrome rims ( for now).

The only way I will have 17s ran, if there is a high demand for them.

My next project I will be working on are 20s ( double liners).

As far as pricing goes, that is still up in the air. I will offer them at a reasonable price.

Thanks Manny.

.....take that as you will.

Thanks for contacting Mr. Rodriguez. I'll be contacting him soon to ask what he means by high demand. Maybe we can strike a group purchase deal with him. I need as many people as possible to contact either him or me. This way we can reach a consensus as to width, backspacing, color. If we can all agree, I'm sure he can get an order together for us. I know it will be difficult but I'm willing to try. Thanks.

Marcos,

...I'll be honest, I'm not in a position to buy wheels now. I LOVE the idea of 17's and If they were unfinished, I could paint them myself, but I just put $2000 into the car over the last few months and I've got to cool the spending for a while.

I'll keep watch though, and see what develops.

That's cool. I certainly understand about budgeting a project and how easily it can get out of hand. In any case, I'll keep you posted. If you or anyone else can send referals my way, I'd appreciate it.
