The '83 currently being restored...
Can't find one of my first '82. Red/Black LG4 Auto Hardtop.
Near my house there is an '84 white/black L69 car that looks exactly like yours! It has 53,000 original miles on it! The only differance is it has Turbo Fin wheels and the louvered hood scoop bird.

Good luck with the 83! Are you restoring it to stock? I am with this one. I want him to be in concours classes. Total factory T/A. There is a 84 H.O. for sale in my area. The guy wants 950. It is a 5 speed. It is the champagne color. i want to by that and the 85 black T/A that is for sale next to it. The B/F says NO MORE!
I'm sorry. The more Ponchos I have, The better. I litterally think he would walk out the door if I bought one or the other:nono: LOL He also says I work on them too much. Is there a medication for this?

LOL Why take medication? We need more people like you lol!
The car is going back to 100% original except for the wheels. It originally came with the N89 wheels. Finding them is going to be really hard.

Although my other 84 has mods,I highly love the thought of a totally stock third. QIUCK! Find the build sheet!
I have the other 84's build sheet. I cried tears of joy when I found that. The vin/body tag is wrong. I had to prove to many people that it was a 84. i pretty much knew all of the options. I was so proud of my Bird knowledge. The only thing I was wrong about was the WS6. With 4discs/3.73/high techs I really thought he had the WS6. He had the WY6 package. I actually had to send a copy of my build sheet to someone over the computer.

I already found my build sheet! I gutted the whole interior and it was sitting taped to the floor right under the carpet!
WY6 = WS6. In '84 they changed the name of WS6 to WY6 and WS7 to WY5 for whatever reason.
My '83 has WS6. It only has very very few options. I weighed it and it was 3170.

My white 84 says ws6 on the the glove box? Did they change it mid year? The red H.O is sept83. The white H.O. is june84.

Redlines too quick. It feels like a 6 cyl. He has a cherry bomb. The machine shop teacher from high school said it sounded like a diesel. What, is he a Kenworth or something?

Here's my Iron Duke 84
Trust me these Iron Duke thirdgens don't have enough horse power to get out of their own way.
Mine, at least, is pretty sad. The only reason I hang onto it is because A: its a firebird, B: it was my first car, and C: not too many around any more.
later,
bill

War Eagle, you are j/k right? The only one not in my yard is the Iron Duke. It is at my mom and dad's house. Apparently you have not seen my driveway. You live in Port St John? Why aren't we hanging out?
Really, you shoud see our driveway. I'm not j/k.

Firechick, you were talking about an 84 H.O. and a black 85 for sale in your area. just wondering if you could let me know where there at, if your not looking to buy them.......Do you ever go to the monthly get-togethers at Dogs-R-Us? Some of the guys from Fl-Thirdgen have it on a monthly basis, but with the storms it has been changed alot. I have seen your car around town though.......

its supposed KITT was a supercar
and no T/A s were available ?
or its well known KITT was a modified T/A ?
Love this post!!
My 84 is in lots of pieces. motor is out being bored .030 over and front end is in process of coming off. Love seeing the 82-84 T/A's. I will have to get some pictures of my progress posted. Still gathering front end body parts for our restoraiton. Thinking of doing the body and interior back to stock but under the hood will be a little different.

I've got an '84 T/A that's my project car and an all original '85 S/E that I'm the 2nd owner of. The '84 started life as an L69 5 speed hardtop WY6 (which constitues the entire WS6 package, except posi) with 3.73's and disc brakes. I've done quite a bit to it since I got it. It's got a new 350 in it, 6 speed, new carpet, 4th gen seats, '91 guages (wanted the electronic speedo for my T-56), and many many little things here and there. The latest project is fuel injecting it with a Holley Stealth Ram and Commander 950 engine management system. I really do like the early birds, and if my '84 had been in better shape when I first got it (interior was ratty, motor was iffy, but did run good and is now in a stock car
) I would have probably kept it closer to stock than I have. Anyway, here's a pic of the '84:

and my "iron duke"

P.S. I WISH my fiance wanted Pontiacs and wanted to work on them, but that's not her thing, sadly

I agree with you Goumba T, I don't particularly care for the "Banshee" style nose either. Seems like it can't decide if it's a thirdgen or a fourthgen...but they certainly are unique!!! I also agree with you on the tail lights. I really do like the tails on my '84, although I like the grid style also, but the ones on the '84 are more...I dunno...classy maybe? Well, they're different at least lol

Oh man the black with gold... I love that combo.
Woman around here had a black and gold 83 and I kept waiting for her to sell it. Now its suddenly disappeared. Either she sold it quietly or something worse happened.

My 85's did work for the first couple of weeks, when I bought him. Matt-I love your 'Bird. It looks familiar......
You have later High Techs with door molding, and I don't. Quadgoat-I can't stop drooling over your 84! It is gourgous! So your from Maine. I am from Massachusetts origianally. I used to go up there to camp alot. I have only been there once, but I love Point Sebago. I was in the 5th grade when I went. I know, I'm dating myself!
I would love to go camping in Maine again. By the way, the TPI looks right at home in your 84. The 85 has the TPI.

Thanks for the complements Firechick, she's a work in progress for sure! Your cars are quite nice looking as well, I love seeing the early birds kept alive! I actually live in Bangor, when I'm not at school in NY. That's pretty cool that you used to camp in Maine
If you want to see more pictures of the '84 there are quite a few at: http://students.vassar.edu/paphillips/pics/carpix
and Pictures of the '85 as well as the installation of the Stealth Ram in the '84 at https://vspace.vassar.edu/paphillips/firebird (The '85 is for sale, by the way if you're interested in another toy for your driveway
it's in SWEET condition). Anyway, good luck with all the Pontiacs!!!!!

LOL... I think we all love our Firebird's.
I recall the following quote:
"In matters of taste, there is no right or wrong."
The only caveat I have to that is if you are a Rustang owner.

SORRY War Eagle, I miss took your "where are the Birds?"comment. I thought you were implying that I really did not own my Birds. The cars you are really want are off of US1 North. The three of them are off of Garden St. in Titusville. All three cars are neighbors. The 84 is at a garage and the 85 is next door. It is for sale by a homeoner. He also has another T/A in his yard. It looks to be an 87. I think the 87 is being modified.
