Side moldings Yes or No?

I just had my car repainted and they took off the the protective molding that goes along the side of the car. I dont know if I want to replace them. Does the car look better with them or without? If I do replace them should I get the red ones or the black ones (my car has a black/red theme to it I guess)? Right now I do not have them on and you can see pictues of my car without them at my website.

Thanks and I hope I get at least one response :-D

I am battling with that same question myself. I am going to leave mine off but my car is not a daily driver. If you drive the car most of the time I would put them back on and paint them the same color as the car.

BTW, Nice car and WEB page.

Personally I have cars both with and without. I really feel they look a lot better with them. My 1992 Camaro doesn't have them while my 1990 Firebird does and I wish the Camaro had them ever since I saw a Camaro up close with them.

I was going to leave those off of my car after I got it painted, then I saw a Camaro that didn't have 'em... the poor guy had more than a few door dings on that "crease" where the molding goes.

I found plain 'ol black molding at Strauss Auto... grabbed it, and noticed when I got home that the back said "82-92 Camaro/Firebird Molding". Guess I knew what I was going for, eh? Just use masking tape to line them up when you put them on... I started my driver's door without it, since I couldn't find the tape. I noticed I was going uphill, stopped, and got a ride to buy some masking tape. The passenger side came out perfect.

Chuck, are you interrested in selling yours? In 85 the camaros came with a cheezy black narrow molding, so right now my car doesn't have any. Both of my doors were murdered and I couldn't afford new ones, so we straightened them. They looked super straight when the primer was sanded and wet, but after we put the paint on, well, they look a tad wavy. I want to add the stock style moldings to break it up and make the waviness less noticable. Nobody notices it but me, but I'm picky. Anyway, if you wanna get rid of them, let me know.

Jim, I will see if I still have them and what condition they are in. If you do not hear from me in the next couple of weeks send me an email reminder.

I am not sure what you mean by using masking tape and that made the job a little easier. Please let me know because I think I will go ahead and buy them

He ran masking tape across the car to use as a guide for putting the moldings on straight. What I usually do is get a long straight edge like a yard stick or something longer, and tape it into place, and use that as a guide.

Nice car and nice job on the paint. I just had my red 89 repainted and got the new moldings. It protects the car and I think it looks better too, bottom line is its up to you. They were cheap enough to buy.
