cowl induction problems?

Hi,

I am considering whether or not to put a cowl induction hood onto my '92 Camaro. It is a daily driver, so I was wondering if rain and snow could get in the opening and mess up the distributer/coil. Also, is there a major increase in noise in the passenger compartment? Any recommended brands/styles. I want to use the stock hinges and latch.

Thanks

Its no problem. Ive driven through storms in the rain. Its pretty cool to watch the rain get sucked into the hood, but never caused a problem. In the winter when it snowed I just stuffed a towel in the hood. Works fine, looks good.

either that or you can just get one of those mesh thingies made for your car like the ricers have over the ground FX openings on their cars

Thanks for your reply. What brand do you have? How many inches is the rise? Thanks again.

Most Cowl induction hoods have something to catch the rain that runs in...I have a 2-3 inch steel hood from goodmark and if you look under the hood, you can see a 3/8inch lip around the opening. This way the water stays there. The opening in the back of the hood is actually screened a bit too to keep most of the water out. I'm not exactly sure where it goes after that, but I know it doesn't get sucked into the air cleaner. I haven't had in the snow yet, but a buddy of mine has. He put a towel in front of the opening to keep it from fogging up on his windows so bad. When it is really cold, and you start your car with a cowl hood, it fogs up your windows for a while.

I have a cervini's ram air hood...the back of it is like a cowl induction..and it's closed in with slots cut out with mesh/screen stuff in it. I don't have a problem with water or debris getting in the engine, but some leaves get into the wiper area a little easier, though. This is just cervini's, though. I don't know how other companies' are. It IS cool to watch rain pour off of it, too.. hehe.. just My $.02
