Machine Polisher?

Has anybody ever used a Machine Polisher before? I think this winter I want to buy one just to make my paint shine like new again, over the summer it has gotten some fine scratches from daily driving the car, and I want to re-fresh the paint.

I see this new one in the Summit Catalog for around $70 and was just wondering what everyone thinks of them. What kind of polishes should I use with them? Would Megiuars Polishing Glaze work fine? Or should I go with a product like the 3M Perfect It III??

Also, is it easy to burn through the paint? I'm very good at detailing so I dont think I should have any trouble with this. As far as I know, a Buffer would be alot more harsh on the paint and you'd hafta be more careful..right?

Any help would be appreciated!

I used a buffer my dad has and put foam pad on it with 3M polishing glaze and it works good on my car. For minor scratches and swirls, try a swirl mark remover or rubbing compound followed by a polishing glaze and good wax coat. Mothers 3step process works pretty good.

I have used stuff by hand before, it just takes so long and was wondering if it would come out better with a polisher... I assume it would?

My two cents: The Porter-Cable machine is an excellent buy. I use it on all my cars and I haven't burned any paint yet. Easy to use and very dependable. Cost me 99 bucks at Lowes.

be careful on trim pieces espaecially the little door trim on most camaros you will dull or melt the finish. Unless it is seriously oxidized I would stick to a good hand waxing.

check out zymols webpage they can make your car look amazing!

i git a makita from autobody store . com he had a great special on em. variable speed few pads with it and a nice carry bag. i used it a few time so far with no problems but then again i am using a real mild compound that they sell its called sure finish and does a good job. it works diffrent with each type of pad with the wool it cut more and with a foam pad it polishes more and remopves swirls. it is very comfortable to use not sure on the weitght but the balance is nice.

we have a kick as* buffer here at my house made by "Milwakee" (how ever it's spelled). When we wetsanded my car, we used that to get the shine in the paint. Ever since then...I've never had to machine buff it at all....I do it all by hand now...and it comes out great.

My old buffer was a Milwaukee, but I switched it up for the Dewalt...I like how the 849 is more diverse and lighter than the Mil.

I found out how to get out the marks without the polisher. Meguiars Paint cleaner and Meguiars Deep crystal polish! Works awesome!!

But I still might buy a polisher
