TAR Tip

I learned that tar is not wax on a black car. And to get tar off all you have to do is put a dab of gasoline on a soft towel to rub it off. No need for bug and tar removel.

But you probably already knew that. hehe

karosene and diesel fuel work exceptionally well to. brake cleaner sprayd on a rag also. if its real bad u can spray the brake cleaner directly on the paint but wipe it immediately then apply some wax after

WD40 works great also and is way less caustic than either mentioned above.

Wish i ahd known that back in the day...

At my old job they were retarring the parking lot. I parked b/w 2 vans away from the work area...figuring the car would be OK...it was not. the vans were fine, but my car was covered front back laft and right side. I think it was deiberate. Could not prove it no one saw anything. Anyway teh construction guys handed me permatex hand clearer....what a waste of time. Messed up the paint with scratches. Good thing it was time for a repaint anyway!

WD40 I still have a tiny bit left where I missed. I'll try that thanks.

Sorry to hear that redraif. I know I had someone actually kick my car in with his foot and typical no one saw a thing. grr. No one respect your car anymore no matter how far you park away from everyone. Someone still has to mess it up.

If you have any shine on your car, gasoline will dull it, as will just about any other oil solvent based product mentioned above (diesel fuel, WD-40, etc). The chemical make up can soften the finish too, so that not all of the damage happens right away. Use bug/tar/adhesive remover to avoid costly paint mistakes and needless refinishing to get the shine back.

trust me after goodyear and terrys auto there's no more shine to my car. Those mechanics took a nice car a ruined it. So replacing the whole. Heck have to get a new paint job no thanks to them. Don't ever take your car to mechanic in NC - My car went from mint to mess. Doesn't look that bad but it's noticeable to me.
