BMW rims question....

I have done some searches and research, but I need some help with the offset and some part numbers.

I found the type of BMW rims that I am thinking about, but I don't know what spacers to get. It says that these rims have a +40mm all around. Will the front need spacers or the rear? What size spacers do I need to get?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...932523798&rd=1

I have read the mounting info in another post here, and I just wanted to see if anyone could help me with a part number, or an example of the nut that I need. Here is what I read:
What must be done to make them center and hold well is to drill out the bolt holes to 5/8" or 16mm ( the same size in metric ) and use a combo nut. I use Gorilla ( sorry no PN ) but they look like a taper seat accorn style that has a short straight shank section to center in the wheel hole.

If this is possible - these would look really cool on the pontiac cars.

What about safety issues? Could these come off the car fairly easy? Also, their tire width recommendations are way to narrow for us.

205 and 215 were standard sizes for our cars, so i doubt 225 is too narrow.

btw i would go with 245/35/18

They would look good on both. The BMW style wheels are more European looking. The trans ams - especially the GTAs are more Euro looking than the Camaros.

It is much harder to put wheels on the GTA cars than the Camaros - Irocs IMO. Most of the American style wheels are more for a street rod look and the Camaros IMHO are closer to that than the Euro looking GTA cars. I would love new wheels on my car but cannot figure out what looks right.

When I look at Euro car mags - I feel my car looks more like some of those cars than American cars. That direction as a vision is what I am thinking. I would love to build up may car as a low budget concept of a Lambo or Ferrari.

Imagine a low slung GTA with twin turbos putting out 500hp at the flywheel - lowered with a built up killer suspension throughout and a full set a racing brakes like some of the guys in TGO have? A car that handles great - is fast as the wind - added with 18" euro rims all for about 20k? A far cry from the cost of a Ferrari and in the Ballpark conceptually. I am on my way!

Anyone else think this way at all? Sorry to hijack the thread.

I believe its the 5 and 7 series wheels that will fit on 3rd gens without adapters . You need to make sure the wheels are hub centric also . "Some" bimmer wheels in those models were not . I had 18x9 Breyton inspiration wheels mounted on my 90 Iroc . sorry its been so long , I dont remember the sizes . I do know my particular wheels were for a late 7 series though . Look around , some of the aftermarket bimmer wheels go as large as 18x10 and are priced about the same as aftermarket F-body type wheels .

CrazyHawaiian has a similar set on one of his Camaros. I think his are Boyd Tuners. These look nice!

those BMW wheels are BBS inspired.

Very nice, lots of dif manufactures had those style, Subaru, BMW etc. same style as the C5R's. and porsches.

Sweet rims would be nice to know if they do fit.

and on the comment of stock size tires ... the 15" rims usually got 215 or 225.

What offsets will I need for the front and rear. I think the stock fronts are 16mm and the rear are 30mm. If that's the case, some 9.5 rear and front would fit with 20mm up front and 40mm in the back, right?

I borrowed my bros beemer wheels and they fit perfect. They need wheels spacer to push them out though. These are 19's.

IIRC,

GM bolt pattern = 5x120.65mm

BMW bolt pattern = 5x120mm

.65mm diference. That being said, I have heard of this being done - however I have also heard of people having problems. I would not do this for a daily driver, but would consider it for a weekend only/show car.

my 2 cents ...for what it's worth.

I am a daily driver with BMW rim in Taiwan, the reason is...there is no rim can fit thirdgen here so I have to find one to instead if I wanna go big, they are right about the bolt pattern, it is fine, you just need to careful when you install them, the problem will be the center hub, some of those rim can fit without any modifition, or you will need to custom a center ring to make the rim stay on the bolt which taped, any....you can use only 5/7 series rim, the offset is similar to thirdgen. Pm me if you need anything others.
