'02 was the 35th year of the Firebird and 33rd year of the T/A.

 

i love my 3rd gen but im getting soon a 01 ss

 

clean 4th gens are everywhere... clean 3rd gens are head turners. 3rd gens are the last gen camaros with the traditional SBC. 4th gens look too much like a chrysler (espescially the 98-02 camaro!).

A 3rd gen is unique looking, fieros are the only thing that make me look twice to see if it's a fiero or a 3rd gen bird really.

In 10 years time 3rd gens will be classic, and the well kept ones will be worth a bit more (though the 2nd gens will increase in price dramatically more, and the '69 camaro will find a steady price since they've got crate '69 camaros now ).

3rd gens are also easier to customize and still look good IMO.

 

True. I've already noticed the prices of later 2ndgen Z28s and Trans Ams on the rise. When I was looking for a Camaro a few years ago, I found a decent '78 Z28 with a factory 4-speed. It was around $2500 cdn. A similar car now is usually over $3000. The big block Firebirds (400 and 403) are really taking off too, even more than the Z28s are.

 

:werd: same here im saving up for a 2002 Ws6.. Those are the only 4th gens i like.. Some of Camaro SS are alright. and theres no way im selling my 3rd gen

 

'02 WS6's are fun. I never drive mine though, only driven it 500 miles since I bought it in May.

 

82 youve been stalking me latley? LOL im jk, yea man im saving up for one and hopefully will have it by next fall (dad gave me some money and added it to the bank) So i have to really work hard on it, i was thinkin of sellin my 1991 Z28, but i cant do that. Is your 02 ws6 A4 or M6? Mileage?

 

pontiac never made a "big block" firebird/trans am. im sure you posted that by accident!

 

sure there were big block firebirds, hell a friend of mine has a 2nd gen firebird with a 350 big block...wierd i know but the numbers match.

 

There were no small block or big block Pontiac engines. There were just Pontiac engines. Every engine size used the same block except the 301 which was a short deck block.

Other engines that were in the 2nd gen were the 403 olds and 305 Chevy, no BBC.

 

Why do I like my third gen better, because of all the reasons to not want a 4th gen already posted.
I wouldn't have one if you gave it to me.....except to part it out for the drive train, They're also a pain in the a$$ to get in and out of and no fun to drive.
Third gens forever for me.

 

interesting i guess i owned a very rare 1981 ta then, it had a 6.6 liter 455 from the factory hmmm. and then so my friend also has a very rare firbird, guess i shouldnt have sold it for so cheap...

The Collector's Edition T/A IS the 35th Anniversary Firebird. It's the 33rd model year of the Trans-Am, a TYPE of Firebird.

 

uhh... the 81 TA shouldnt have had a 455 from the factory

they only had 301 and 305

I was pretty sure the CE Trans Am was sold and marketed as the "collectors edition" car rather than the 35th anny car?

I was under the impression it was done that way to avoid confusion? (i.e. the T/A cars [79/84/89/94/99] were used as the anny cars)

Anyways, sorry if I came across as a toolbag, I was kinda in a hurry and forgot to toss some smilies in there.

 

6.6 liters would be 400ci pontiac or 403ci olds. niether are big blocks. good grief guys.....they didnt use a pontiac motor in a f-body in 1981! you did not have a rare find, you had mis-information, quite common indead.....

 

6.6L would be a 400 as 7.4L would be a 455 which hasn't been in a T/A since '76. :lala:

Yes they did have them.The 455 H.O debuted in the T/A in '71. From '73-74 There was the 455 Super Duty T/A and Firebird,then 75&76 it was just called 455 H.O.:lala:

 

I love the nose on the thirdgen Camaros. It just has the mean look to it. The fourthgens don't have it. 93-97 look to wierd with open headlights and a rounded out fascia. I have a friend who calls them fish bodies. Can't you see the resemblance of a cat fish? But, they do have a much better drive train, just can't work on 'em. I like the fact that if I have to change spark plugs, it isn't gonna be an overly strenous job (except for the smog crap). Just my .02.

The 455 was not a big block. There were no small block, or big block Pontiac motors.
