Wheel Polishing question

i got the regular early camaro wheels(86 Z28). the clear coat is cracking, and the rims just look bad. i want to strip it off and polish them.
i got this stuff called Kutzit i think, that says it strips laquer and other stuff. it took the aluminum paint off my truck wheels. anyway, will this take it off? if not, what do i need?
one more thing, if this stuff eats off clear coat, will it oxidize the aluminum? some people i know seem to think it will turn it white and rough. tell me what i got to do.
and shouldnt i re-clear coat em when im done?

If you have a few extra bucks, I'd say your better off sending them out to be done correctly. I got a set of 4 refurbished IROC rims from A-1 Wheel and I had to look hard to convince myself that they were not brand new. Drop them a line www.a-1wheel.com
