i wanna get the car painted this spring, same color, but wanna do something different to make it stand out. Yeah, I could do stripes or something, but i'd prefer something like flames. I think ghost flames would look good, but probably will cost a bit more than i have....
what could i do with that color and flames? i dont know which colors would look good combined with the red/orange of the car....

Car: 1986 Camaro SC (Supercool)
Engine: one composed of various metals
silver, gold, black, or a similar maroonish red...ghost flames would look great.

Give it a pearl clearcoat on top of the stock color. That would definitely stand out.

unless it's metallic then it will be a wash out and depending on the grade of metallic could turn out badly.

that's a difficult color to do anything really trick with... personally i'd probably lighten the color up slightly or change the base color to add more depth. maybe throw a pearl in before the final stage if you going to try doing pearl over metallic.

i've been working with pearls over metallic base coats for my color but it hasn't turned out too well.

I agree that it's a tough color to do much with, it's a little too dark. Look at cars like Tunedport335 and the sunset orange metallic one that was just recently posted. It might convince you to go with more of a red/orange than maroon.
