Paint ideas for Silver Formula
Paint ideas for Silver Formula
I'm looking at a new paint job, probably over the next summer and had two ideas, both of which I'd love some imput on from you paint guys.
1) Deep, burnt orange type paint with wide black stripe running up cowl induction hood. The paint color I had pictured was similar to the orange on the new mustangs. I also think the new S10 Extremes have a similar color that I liked better, but that could have been custom.
2) Some type of a metalic gray (my car is gunmetal gray now, so it's sorta metalic) fading into another color/shade towards the rear. I at first thought something real understated would be nice, just metalic silver getting darked to the rear. [i]But then...[i/] I thought of fading it into some shade of blue or deep purple. I don't want it to look like the trashy hotrod paint jobs though. I want something that draws attention without being too flashy.
Thanks for any input from you guys who know something about paint jobs.
P.S. Here's a pic of my car now.

I think that color is sharp by itself,,,some black mesh GTA rims would make it look pretty sweet tho. just my opinion,,,not too many fades ever look good,,, a fade to black along the bottom might be alright,,,but not half and half front to back.
The g/f tells me my opinion doesn't count tho

Hmm...I really like my rims. I've never seen the black GTA rims on a silver car, but they look kinda cheesy on some of the cars I've seen them on.
I'm not talking going to the full blown blue or purple at the rear, just a hint of it as you move rearward. I don't know if paint can be mixed/applied like this so that's why I was looking for advice from some of you guys who do paint.
Anyone else have anything to say?

I'm sure the paint mixing shouldn't be a problem if you use an experienced shop, but it'll cost you of course. Anyway, I like the idea of the silver fading to blue, and the other alternative that's been given of fading to black towards the ground. As for the orange, I think the color you're talkin about looks reddish in some light and orange in others, am I right? I've seen it on a few trucks around here and it looks pretty good. I'm not sure about the lone black stripe though, I'm a little more partial to the dual stripe look, but taht's just me. In the end it'll come down to waht you think will look best, just remember, the fancier you get the more it'll cost and the more you're likely to be disappointed because things don't always turn out the way you imagaine. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the opinion. Sorry it took so long for me to get back. Ya, the color I'm talking about does fade and change based on light and I've only seen it on trucks thus far. I'm thinking I'm more likely to go with the fading silver scheme though.
