I have four 89-90 IROC rims (two stripes) and the edge were the weight goes on the front blends smoothly into the 5spokes, i.e. no sharp edge. I got another 89-90 rim and it has a sharp edge. Also the previous four, the shiny part on the spokes was smooth and easy to polish. The one I just got has ridges in it, like the rim was spun in a lathe and grooved like a record. What gives? All are 16X8 rims. Did the 89 and 90 IROC rims differ? Before anyone says it, this other rim IS NOT the 87 style! Both are dual stripe 89-90 style. Thanks

Hi,
This is just how these wheels were manufactured. It sounds like you got each rim from a seperate place. It could be that the clear coat has come off on the wheel that you stated was coarse. Also, I would reccomend taking the wheel weight off the one rim, and stick the weight in the bck of the rim.

Get the rims polished and they will look like new! Those are the best looking rims for the 1985-1992 styles.

There are no wheel weights on the rim, just using that as a reference point for where the sharp edge was. All rims were clear coated until I stripped them, sanded and polished them. Definately two different manufacturing technics, both rims have the JLL stamp on them.
Oh well, just a little more sanding to get them to match.
